Defending champions Puneri Paltan will start their PKL 11 campaign against Haryana Steelers.

The stage is set for an exciting clash in the 11th season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 11) as defending champions Puneri Paltan lock horns with last season’s runners-up, Haryana Steelers, in a replay of the PKL 10 Final at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on 19th October.

Both teams are gearing up for this high-stakes encounter, with key player battles likely to determine the outcome. Let’s take a look at three crucial player battles that will unfold on the mat.

Aslam Inamdar vs Rahul Sethpal

Aslam Inamdar, Puneri Paltan’s captain, is one of the most consistent all-rounders in Indian kabaddi. He played a pivotal role in his team’s title win last season, amassing 168 points and earning the MVP award for his stellar performances.

Leading from the front, Aslam’s quick raids and tactical acumen will be critical as Puneri Paltan aims to defend their crown in PKL 11.

On the other side, Haryana Steelers have restructured their leadership, appointing Rahul Sethpal as vice-captain. Sethpal’s defensive prowess, particularly in high-pressure situations, is well-known across the league.

Last season, he executed 15 super tackles—the highest in PKL 10—while maintaining a 66% tackle success rate. Aslam’s dynamic raiding will face a stern test against Sethpal’s expert defensive techniques in what promises to be a battle of wits and skill in PKL 11.

Mohammadreza Shadloui vs Mohit Goyat

The acquisition of Iranian sensation Mohammadreza Shadloui is a major boost for the Haryana Steelers ahead of PKL 11. Known for his defensive strength, Shadlou was the top defender in PKL 10 with 99 tackle points, playing a crucial role in Puneri Paltan’s title triumph last season.

His switch to Haryana adds another dimension to their defence, and all eyes will be on how the Iranian powerhouse performs against his former team.

On the other hand, Mohit Goyat, a key figure in Puneri Paltan’s successful campaign last season, will look to continue his fine form. As a versatile player who excels in both attack and defence, Mohit scored heavily alongside captain Aslam Inamdar, forming a formidable duo.

Vinay vs Gaurav Khatri

Haryana Steelers’ raiding department will rely heavily on Vinay, who delivered his best-ever performance in PKL 10 with 165 points. While Haryana has bolstered its defence, their attacking unit still needs more firepower, and Vinay will be expected to lead the charge. His ability to capitalize on do-or-die raids will be critical if Haryana is to pose a serious threat to Puneri Paltan.

Puneri Paltan’s defence, led by Gaurav Khatri, will look to neutralize Vinay’s threat. Khatri was Puneri’s standout Indian defender last season, registering 72 points and demonstrating a 59% tackle success rate. His ankle holds and chain tackles have been instrumental in stifling opposition raiders.
