PKL 11: We will have to depend on other teams to go to playoffs, says Bengal Warriorz coach
Bengal Warriorz now sit at the 10th spot in PKL 11 table.
Bengal Warriorz and UP Yoddhas played out a nail-biting 31-31 tie in Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) at the Balewadi Stadium on Thursday.
UP’s player Ashu and coach addressed the media after their draw, while Bengal’s defender Nitesh alongside the coach shared their views on the team’s Draw in PKL 11.

On UP Yoddhas’ road ahead in PKL 11
Pranay Rane’s Super 10 and Nitesh Kumar’s High 5 earned Bengal Warriorz three crucial points, while Gagan Gowda’s Super 10 kept UP Yoddhas steady in the playoff race. UP Yoddhas remain fourth in the PKL 11 standings, while Bengal Warriorz’s playoff hopes now depend on favourable results elsewhere.
“We had five matches, and winning today was important but no we have to win all our remaining matches to make sure we stay in the race,” said UP Yoddhas’s coach.
On Gagan Gowda’s performance
The match began at a blistering pace, with Gagan Gowda scoring early for UP Yoddhas and Bhavani Rajput delivering a Super Raid. Bengal Warriorz responded through Siddhesh Tatkare’s Super Tackle, keeping the game balanced. Gagan Gowda’s Super Raid restored UP’s lead, while Pranay Rane’s two-point effort ensured Bengal stayed in contention. At halftime, UP Yoddhas held a slim 15-13 advantage.
“Gagan and Bhavani have been performing very well for some time. Today Gagan might have had some problems in the first half but he made for them in the second one, ” added coach.
On Maninder Singh’s performance
The second half saw both teams adopting a cautious Do-or-Die approach. Bengal Warriorz leveled the score at 16-all after Fazel Atrachali’s tackle and Manjeet’s raid. Hitesh shone for UP Yoddhas with a Super Tackle and a High 5, while Nitesh Kumar led Bengal’s defense with a flawless 100% tackle rate.
“Maninder might have been going through some poor form but he will be back soon, he is our star raider, ” said Nitesh.
On the road ahead for Bengal Warriorz in PKL 11
In the final minutes, Gagan Gowda’s Super Raid gave UP a slight edge, but Pranay Rane’s determined efforts, capped by his Super 10, kept Bengal alive. A late Super Tackle by Fazel Atrachali and Vishwas S’s crucial raid sealed the tie.
“Now we not only have to win all our matches, but we will also have to rely on the performance of other teams in the league, ” said the Bengal Warriorz coach.
