On the first PKL 11 WIN

Haryana Steelers got off to a flying start, quickly establishing a 3-point lead in the opening minutes as Naveen and Vinay consistently troubled the Jaipur defence. Their fast-paced attack and solid defence helped them maintain an early advantage.

“Most importantly, the raider who gets more chances will score more points, like Vinay for today. He did very well. Kabaddi is about a team game, and everyone in my team played really well. If you are dependent on one player then you have problems when they don’t play well. So I want all my players to play well,” said Haryana Steelers coach.

On Arjun Deshwal and his impact

As the first half progressed, Haryana maintained control of the PKL 11 game, with Naveen leading an aggressive charge. Vinay was particularly effective, scoring 9 points in the first half alone, which helped the Steelers head into the break with a comfortable 20-11 lead.

“Arjun [Deshwal] is a good player but he was a little unlucky today, he got injured so he could not play until the second half. We took advantage of that. We anyway had a strategy, if you can’t contain Arjun while playing Jaipur then you won’t be able to win against them,” he added.

On the loss

Jaipur Pink Panthers opened the second half of the PKL 11 game with a cautious approach, scoring the first points as they tried to chip away at Haryana’s lead. They looked to Abhijeet Malik for inspiration, but by midway through the second half, Haryana had extended their lead to 12 points, with Vinay and Naveen combining for 16 points.

“Arjun’s injury was a loss but our defence was a little lacking today and that is where I think we lost the match,” said Jaipur Pink Panthers coach.

The Steelers stayed firmly in control in the final stages, as Vinay completed his Super 10 and the rest of the team stepped up with strong support. Their defensive setup stifled Jaipur’s attacks and prevented any chance of a comeback. Ultimately, Haryana walked off the mat with a decisive and well-deserved win in PKL 11.
