On the third consecutive win in PKL 11
This tightly contested PKL 11 match saw Vinay, Sanjay, and Shivam Patare star for the Haryana Steelers, while Gagan Gowda’s late surge for the Yoddhas kept the outcome in suspense until the final moments.
“I have great players, so did they. It was like a do-and-die thing. I kept telling them how to play, but they were doing something different altogether. When four-five minutes were left, I talked to Jaideep and others and now you can see the result,” said Haryana Steelers coach Manpreet Singh.
“We will of course make mistakes in the games. You can’t play a game without making a mistake. So we have the coach telling us our mistakes later and we work on them and try not to repeat them,” added captain Jaideep Dahiya.
On Jaideep Dahiya’s impact on the game
The Steelers gained an early advantage, leading 5-1 midway through the first half. A powerful Super Raid from Bharat briefly put the Yoddhas ahead, but a High 5 from Sanjay restored the Steelers’ lead, putting them up 11-9 at halftime.
“You think about Jaideep scoring, but I think his impact is way more. Whenever he is on the mat, the team is way more motivated, they know he is there for them,” said the coach.
On facing Patna Pirates next in PKL 11
UP Yoddhas now will go on to three-time Pro Kabaddi League Champions Patna Pirates on November 2nd. They have only one out of their three wins and are coming off a loss against Telugu Titans.
“You don’t decide how strong a team is by comparing on paper. When you play on the mat you realise how good or bad they are. Patna is a great team. They have great players and we have to plan well for all of them, ” said captain Surender Gill.
