Dabang Delhi have lost four consecutive matches in PKL 11.
In a thrilling Pro Kabaddi League 2024 (PKL 11) encounter, U Mumba claimed their third win of the season by edging out Dabang Delhi K.C. 32-26 at Hyderabad’s GMCB Indoor Stadium. U Mumba’s Amirmohammad Zafardanesh, Manjeet, and Rohit Raghav starred in a hard-fought contest, guiding their team to victory with impressive performances.
Speaking to the media, Dabang Delhi captain Ashu Malik and coach Joginder Narwal followed by U Mumba assistant coach, and captain Sunil Kumar shared their thoughts on the PKL 11 match.
The match started with a flurry, as Manjeet and Dabang Delhi’s Ashu Malik each secured four points early on. Zafardanesh soon added to U Mumba’s momentum, pushing them to a narrow lead halfway through the first half.
“It was a good win, we planned to keep Ashu [Malik] contained and we did manage to do so. If Ashu got to do what he does best, he would have changed the game in his favour, over all a good win,” said U Mumba captain Sunil Kumar.
On facing Patna Pirates next in PKL 11
The defensive line then took control, with Yogesh standing tall for Dabang Delhi and Sombir and Sunil Kumar delivering strong tackles for U Mumba. A decisive tackle by Sombir put U Mumba ahead 14-13 at halftime. U Mumba will now go on to face Patna Pirates next in PKL on November 6th at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad.
“We are of course coming with confidence, now we need to win all the matches coming forward. Patna is a good team. They have a good raider in Devank so we will also have to put our best performance forward,” added Sunil.
On Naveen’s anticipated return to PKL 11
U Mumba extended their lead early in the second half, as Manjeet’s two-point raid and Zafardanesh’s All-Out pushed the advantage to six points. Despite a spirited response from Dabang Delhi, led by Ashu Malik’s Super 10 and Yogesh’s Super 5, U Mumba managed to protect their lead. However, Dabang Delhi were without captain Naveen Kumar.
“We really miss Naveen, because we need two raiders upfront, but Naveen is better now and he will be back on the mat soon,” said Dabang Delhi coach.
On playing Bengal Warriorz next in PKL 11
Manjeet’s late heroics, along with Zafardanesh’s final raid, sealed the 32-26 win, closing a high-energy game in PKL 11. Dabang Delhi will now go on to face PKL Season 7 champions Bengal Warriorz next in PKL 11 on November 7.
“It is going to be a good match. All the teams in PKL 11 are very good including ours. The boys are trying very hard but somehow it’s not working in the match. All I can say is we will look into our mistakes and come back prepared better, ” concluded coach Joginder Narwal.
