Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) table-toppers Haryana Steelers were dealt a massive blow with captain and star defender Jaideep Dahiya was seen limping out of the mat after the match against Bengaluru Bulls in Noida.
Speaking to the media during the post-match conference of the PKL 11 game, head coach Manpreet Singh provided an important update on Jaideep’s injury scare. He revealed that the extent of the injury was not known till then but the star defender has incurred a niggle in the same spot where he had surgery before the season.
“Well, we have to get an MRI done first. He had surgery before the season and he now incurred an injury in the same place. Now we have to see whether he can come back or he will be out for the season, ” said Haryana Steelers coach Manpreet Singh.
Jaideep Dahiya’s stellar impact on Haryana Steelers
Jaideep Dahiya has shown why he’s one of the best defenders in the Pro Kabaddi League. Playing as a left cover, he’s known for his sharp defensive skills and smart tactics on the mat. In Season 10, he played a big role in leading the Haryana Steelers to the final, proving he has what it takes to be a team captain.
His performance continued to impress in PKL 11, where he earned 18 tackle points in 9 matches. With one Super Tackle, one High 5, and a tackle success rate of 40%, Jaideep averaged 1.88 successful tackles per game, making him a crucial part of his team’s defence.
“He is a fighter. If it is a small injury then I am sure it would not affect him, he will be back soon, but if it is a big one, then I cant say, ” he added.
As for Haryana Steelers, the outfit are at the top of the PKL 11 table with 46 points from nine wins and three losses. They would now go on to face Jaipur Pink Panthers for a second time in PKL 11 on November 23rd and it remains to be seen whether captain Jaideep Dahiya can return for the remainder of the season.
