PKL 11: Sombir is one of best talents this season, says U Mumba coach

U Mumba moved up to the second spot in the PKL 11 table.
The Jaipur Pink Panthers and U Mumba delivered a gripping contest in the Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) at the Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune, with the match ending in a hard-fought 22-22 tie. Both teams leaned heavily on their defenders, who took centre stage throughout the game.
Jaipur defender Ankush, raider Neeraj Narwal and coach addressed the media after a thrilling tie match, while Mumba’s captain Sunil and coach shared their views on the team’s performance in the PKL 11 match.

On the draw and other results of U Mumba
For U Mumba, Sombir stood out with a High-5 and seven points, while Rohit Raghav added four. Jaipur Pink Panthers saw strong performances from Reza Mirbagheri, who also secured a High-5 with six points, and Ronak Singh, who contributed four.
“The draws and the close wins are not negative, I get it when matches are these close we can lose if we make mistakes, but I still take it on a positive note,” said U Mumba captain Sunil Kumar.
On Sombir’s performance
U Mumba started PKL 11 strongly, establishing an early three-point lead, but Jaipur quickly responded through Neeraj Narwal and Surjeet Singh. As the first half progressed, both sets of defenders dominated, making life difficult for the raiders. Sombir’s High-5 ensured U Mumba stayed ahead, leading 12-8 at halftime.
“Sombir is one the best talents in PKL 11 and now slowly he is coming out, and I hope he plays more matches well for us,” said the U Mumba coach.
On Jaipur Pink Panthers playing youngsters in PKL 11
In the second half, Ronak Singh’s Super Tackle levelled the scores, and Shrikant Jadhav helped Jaipur edge ahead briefly. U Mumba regained control but couldn’t shake off the resilient Jaipur Pink Panthers‘ defence. In the final minutes, Reza Mirbagheri’s Super Tackle on Ajit Chouhan brought Jaipur level, ensuring the match ended as a tie.
“We did make changes and brought young players too. We are trying to play all the youngsters from the bench,” concluded Jaipur Pink Panthers’ coach.
