On Moein Shafaghi and team’s performance
Moein Shafaghi was the star of the show, scoring an impressive 13 points, while Sourabh Fagare and Himanshu contributed 7 points each. Himanshu Singh fought hard for the Gujarat Giants, scoring 11 points but lacking the support needed to turn the tide.
“Moein, Ashish played really well and I hope they will play like this in the next matches too. As for Sourabh Fagare, I hope he plays like this all the matches too, ” said Tamil Thalaivas’s coach.
On facing U Mumba next in PKL 11
The match began evenly, but the Tamil Thalaivas soon took control, building a three-point lead within the opening five minutes. They will go on to face U Mumba next in PKL 11.
“All the teams are good, U Mumba are pretty good too. If our defence and offence worked together today the way they did, I am confident that we will do well, ” said Tamil Thalaivas Nitesh Kumar.
On Sachin’s form and playing time
Moein Shafaghi and Himanshu led their charge, with the defence playing a key role in stifling the Gujarat Giants. By halftime, the Thalaivas had secured a solid 19-8 lead, with Shafaghi inflicting an ALL OUT that widened the gap. What was shocking about the match was the absence of Sachin Tanwar for the entirety of the match.
“Sachin has been rested for a while although he came today for some time. Others are playing well for now, and his form is a little down, so we have decided to rest him, ” added Tamil Thalaivas’s coach.
On Parteek Dahiya’s injury
In the second half, the Thalaivas continued their dominance. Shafaghi’s brilliance, including a three-point raid to seal his Super 10, and contributions from Aashish and Himanshu kept the Giants under pressure. Gujarat Giants were without Parteek Dahiya who was sidelined following an injury.
“It will take Parteek some time, there are some problems that has come up in the MRI but we will be able to say for sure after speaking to the doctor,” said Gujarat Giants coach Ram Mehar Singh.
On their PKL 11 playoff hopes
While Himanshu Singh managed an ALL OUT for the Giants, it was too little too late. The Tamil Thalaivas held firm to clinch an emphatic win, further solidifying their presence in PKL 11.
“We drew the last match and lost this one, so naturally our playoff hopes have suffered a little, ” concluded Gujarat Giants coach.
