PKL 11: Patna Pirates complete squad

Three-time Pro Kabaddi League champions Patna Pirates have once again relied on youth to bring glory in season 11 of the League (PKL 11). They were in the news even before the auction when they released their primary raider Sachin Tanwar and primary defender Krishan Dhull to the auction. They bought back the charismatic Jang Kun Lee to support the likes of Sandeep Kumar and Sudhakar M, who were retained.

Both raiders made their PKL debut last season, and they left a great impression with 87 and 105 points respectively. All three have played the role of secondary raiders till now and the men in green will expect any of them to take up the responsibility of the primary raider and lead the attack. They will also have the support of Meetu Sharma, who had a decent season last year with Dabang Delhi.

The release of Krishan Dhull was a surprise and many expected that the three-time champions would use a FBM card to get him back. Although they couldn’t do it, they have got an equally good replacement in the right corner in the form of Shubham Shinde. The Bengal Warriorz import had represented Patna in season eight when they lost the finals by a single point.

Shubham would want to get one better and he will have the support of Ankit Jaglan in the left corner. The all-rounder was impressive in his debut season with 66 tackle points and will look to continue. The addition of Gurdeep Sangwan and Deepak Singh has strengthened their defense in the cover front, an area they lacked last season.

Pirates tend to unleash talents every season. They have retained the likes of Thiyagarajan Yuvraj, Babu Murugesan, and Manish in their defensive department. If the youngsters they have backed deliver goods, as they have done historically, then Patna Pirates could be running another successful campaign with an eye on the trophy.
