Gujarat Giants have the highest purse value going into the PKL 11 auction.

It’s time for auction in the Pro Kabaddi League ahead of the season 11. As the league enters its second decade, it has seen tremendous growth. From being played on the village soil to one of the most-watched leagues in India, PKL has become a fan favorite.

The PKL Auctions has also grown commercially with the highest-paid player from the inaugural auction to the last season has grown from 12.6 lakhs to 2.6 crores. The Auction for PKL 11 is set to happen on the 15th and 16th of August and it promises to be no different as one could witness a new high to become the highest-paid player.

Few teams have some deep pockets that could help break the previous record. The total purse value will be 5 cr. Teams have retained few players and the value for those players will be deducted from the total purse. Teams have adopted different strategies ahead of the auction, such as Gujarat Giants with 4.08cr have the deepest pocket and could break another record.

With the release of Pawan Sehrawat (2.6cr) and Maninder Singh (2.12cr), Telugu Titans and Bengal Warriors will have a bigger budget to make purchases for 3.82cr and 3.62cr respectively. The defending champions Puneri Paltan have retained their winning core and hence will have the least purse ahead of the event on India’s Independence Day.

Last year’s finalists Haryana Steelers and season nine champions Jaipur Pink Panthers wanted to ensure their winning formula going as they have retained most of their players who contributed to wins. They will be guided by the same coaching staff and hence will only be plugging some holes, unlike a few others who will be busy with purchases.

It will be interesting to see how teams adopt their auction strategy as they have seen changes in the coaching staff. Joginder Narwal with Dabang Delhi, Krishnan Kumar Hooda with Telugu Titans, and Uday Kumar with Tamil Thalaivas are some of the significant changes. Teams would want to get their act right and build the team for the season.

PKL 11: Remaining purse value of all teams:

Bengal Warriors – 3.62 cr

Patna Pirates – 3.59 cr
