PKL 11: Naveen Kumar's Dabang Delhi secure stellar win over Tamil Thalaivas

Dabang Delhi move to the second spot in the PKL 11 points table.

Dabang Delhi remained unbeaten in the Noida leg of Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) after an excellent 32-21 win over the Tamil Thalaivas at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Sunday. In what was the penultimate match of the Noida leg, Naveen Kumar’s 11 raid points – his second Super 10 of PKL 11 – took the team to second on the points table heading to Pune.

A close encounter defined the opening minutes of the PKL 11 match as Dabang Delhi K.C. and the Tamil Thalaivas took their time to get into their groove. It was the Tamil Thalaivas who started the scoring when Ranjith Chandran got the dangerous Ashu Malik with a swift defence.

Yogesh then entered the fray with an excellent block to deny Moein Shafaghi any points, before Naveen Kumar displayed the prowess that has made him a standout in PKL 11, keeping the Tamil Thalaivas on their toes.

Ashu Malik was kept quiet by the Tamil Thalaivas, but they had no answer to the Naveen Express. Just when it looked like Dabang Delhi would extend their lead, Moein Shafaghi entered the fray with an impressive four raid points and two tackle points at the end of the first half. However, he fell victim to Gaurav’s defensive brilliance, who blocked him to complete a Super Tackle. The first half ended at 12-12, setting the stage for an exciting second half in PKL 11.

It was a similar script at the start of the second half, as there was nothing to separate the two teams. For every point won by Amir Hossein Bastami, Naveen Kumar delivered in the Do-Or-Die raids, showcasing why he is one of the stars of PKL 11.

As the match entered the final 10 minutes, Naveen Kumar turned the tide. A massive four-point Super Raid took out Moein Shafaghi, Aashish, Amir Hossein Bastami, and Abhishek Manokaran. This milestone not only brought up his Super 10 in PKL 11 but also inflicted an ALL OUT on the Tamil Thalaivas, giving Dabang Delhi K.C. a decisive lead.

Ashu Malik joined the party with a two-point raid as the match neared its conclusion. Despite Moein Shafaghi’s efforts, the lack of support from other Tamil Thalaivas players ensured Dabang Delhi K.C. secured another impressive 11-point victory in PKL 11.
