Defenders have truly turned the tables in PKL 11, proving their value with match-winning performances. From UP Yoddhas’ impenetrable duo of Sumit and Hitesh to Tamil Thalaivas’ reliable Nitesh Kumar, the defenders have redefined the dynamics of the match.

5. Sumit Sangwan (UP Yoddhas)
UP Yoddhas’ left-corner specialist Sumit Sangwan has been a consistent performer this season. Despite a few off-games, he remains his team’s top tackler. In Week 6, Sumit showed his brilliance by scoring 10 tackle points in three matches. Overall, he has amassed 47 tackle points in 14 games in PKL 11, solidifying his position as a key player in UP Yoddhas’ defence.
4. Nitesh Kumar (Tamil Thalaivas)
Tamil Thalaivas’ left-corner defender Nitesh Kumar has proven his mettle with consistent performances. So far, he has played 13 matches this season and secured 45 tackle points. In Week 6, Nitesh delivered a stellar performance by earning 9 points in two matches in PKL 11, contributing significantly to the Thalaivas’ back-to-back victories.
3. Deepak Singh (Patna Pirates)
While Patna Pirates’ young raiders Devank and Ayan have been grabbing attention with their attacking prowess, Deepak Singh has quietly emerged as a defensive powerhouse in PKL 11. In Week 6, Rathee impressed fans with 10 tackle points, stepping up as a key figure in the Pirates’ defence. His performances underline the importance of balanced gameplay in achieving success.
2. Reza Mirbagheri (Jaipur Pink Panthers)
Despite an underwhelming season for the Jaipur Pink Panthers otherwise, their Iranian defender Reza Mirbagheri has been a bright spot. Reza scored 11 tackle points in Week 6, showing exceptional skills under pressure. With the team heavily relying on raider Arjun Deshwal in PKL 11, Reza’s contributions in defence have been pivotal.
1. Hitesh (UP Yoddhas)
UP Yoddhas boast not just one but two standout defenders this season. While Sumit has dominated the left corner, Hitesh has been equally impressive in the right corner. Filling the void left by Nitesh Kumar, Hitesh has delivered stellar performances, earning 43 tackle points in 14 matches in PKL 11. In Week 6 alone, he scored a phenomenal 18 points in three matches, making him the top defender of the week.
