PKL 11: Top five retained all-rounders before auction
Considering the performance of these all-rounders last season, they have been retained for PKL 11.
The Pro Kabaddi League has become one of the most watched league in India because of the high-octane action in it. With Auction involved in it, the permutations and combinations have made it even more interesting. The dynamics of the auction appeared to have a significant impact on the season’s conclusion.
The player has been getting more expensive every year, and this year won’t be any different. Especially all-rounders as players who are good in both defense and raiding roles are hard to come by in the game. But there is always room for quality and Pro Kabaddi League teams have found five such all-round players. Let’s take a look at the top five all-rounders who have stayed with their old teams ahead of PKL 11.
5. Sanjeevi S
Telugu Titans had yet another season to forget last year as they finished as wooden spooners yet again. One of the bright spots was the performance of Sanjeevi. The all-rounder came late into the team but scored 49 points. More importantly, he maintained a not-out percentage of 71% as he stayed on the mat and tried to keep his team in the game. Probably that has helped me to kept in the team by the new coach Krishna Kumar Hooda.
4. Ankit
Patna Pirates are always known for unearthing gems for the Kabaddi World. The season 10 saw them reveal Ankit as they spent 31.5 lakhs in the Auction. He answered the critics with his performance on the court as he stood like a rock at the right corner scoring 66 points. He has been retained as an Elite player and the three-time champions would depend on him to contribute as a raider as well.
3. Parteek Dahiya
The season 10 Gujarat Giants present one of the fiercest coach-captain combo of Ram Mehar Singh and Fazel Atrachali. The duo led the side brilliantly to make it to the top-6. Parteek Dahiya was a key player who assisted them.
He had outsmarted his opponents and scored valuable points for the two-time finalists, 141 of them to be precise. Ram Mehar have decided to sign him for another season and big opportunities await for the 22-year-old.
2. Amirmohammad Zafardanesh
U Mumba’s iranian coach Gholamreza Mazandarani placed a high price to hire the services of Amirmohammad Zafardanesh. It caused a stir during the PKL 10 auctions, but it won’t be the case in this Auction as he has been retained by season two champions.
The rookie had a wonderful debut season pocketing 148 points. Expect more from the 20-year-old Iranian who is touted as the next big thing in Iranian Kabaddi circles.
1. Aslam Inamdar
When you have a captain who took the team to a title that has been elusive for a decade, then any team would love to retain him. The defending champions have entrusted on Aslam Inamdar again to lead them to the title. Termed as the most valuable player last season, all-rounder would want to show that all these accolades are not a one-season wonder.
