U Mumba will be looking to lift their second PKL title.

Season 2 champions U Mumba will be beginning their Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 (PKL 11) campaign against Season 7 champions Dabang Delhi K.C. on October 18 in Hyderabad.

The Pro Kabaddi League is being held in a cluster caravan format this time, with only three cities namely Hyderabad, Noida and Pune hosting the league stage matches. Each day consists of a double header, with only two rest days across the duration of the league stage.

U Mumba will play 7 matches in Hyderabad, which includes a match against arch-rivals Jaipur Pink Panthers on October 31, followed by a date with defending champions Puneri Paltan on November 3. They will play their last match in the city on November 6, against Patna Pirates.

They will then start their Noida leg, against home team UP Yoddhas on November 10. After playing 7 matches in total culminating with a clash against Telugu Titans on November 28, U Mumba will move to their home state, albeit a different city in the form of Pune.

The third leg will see them playing the home team first up, on December 3. They play a total of 8 matches in Pune, with their league stage journey ending with a match against Bengal Warriorz on December 24.

Each team will play a total of 22 matches. The top two teams will qualify for the semifinals directly, while the next four teams will play the Eliminators to decide the remaining two semifinalists.

Eight of the matches played by the Mumbai-based franchisee constitute the first match of the double header. Incidentally, all of the matches played by them in the Pune leg will be the second match of the respective days.

The Men in Orange and Black haven’t qualified for the playoffs, ever since they reached the semifinals in the seventh edition. They had started their season very well and had secured five consecutive wins at one point. However, a sudden shift in momentum occurred and they couldn’t win a single one of their last fourteen matches. Eventually, they finished tenth on the table, with 45 points.

U Mumba have made wholesale changes to their side this time. They managed to secure the services of one of the most prolific cover duos in the history of the league, comprising Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal. They also bought Manjeet Dahiya, who is known to be a consistent raider, at the auctions.

With the likes of Rinku and Amirmohammad Zafardanesh being retained from the previous season, the team looks well-balanced and capable of putting up a strong performance this time.
