PKL 11: U Mumba's probable starting 7 for Pro Kabaddi 2024

U Mumba will seek a return to the playoffs this season.
U Mumba have made some crucial changes to their line-up ahead of season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League. The biggest of them all is letting go of their season 10 skipper Surinder Singh. The cover defender was one of the core of the defensive wall but they have released him and hired the cousin-cover combination of Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal.
The season two champions have struggled a lot in the recent past as they have been lacking quality raiders after the likes of Anup Kumar and Siddharth Desai left the franchise. The appointment of Iranian coach Gholamreza Mazandarani and the hiring of young all-rounder Amirmohammed Zafardanesh seem to be the solution for the same.
With this and much more, let’s dig into the probable starting seven of U Mumba for PKL 11.
Young and agile raiders
U Mumba was one of the most consistent sides in the initial years of the Pro Kabaddi League qualifying for the finals in the first three seasons. Anup Kumar was the leader of the pack, taking them to the title in the second season. Apart from Siddharth Desai, none has been able to make a bigger impact until the arrival of Amirmohammad Zafardanesh last season.
Apart from the Iranian, Guman Singh and Jai Bhagwan were sharing the raiding duties. But the Indian duo has been released and they have hired the consistent Manjeet Singh. The tall raider might have been traveling to another team each season, but he has delivered the goods to them. He along with the Iranian will look to lead the charge.
Experienced defensive wall
The team from the West will depend on their defensive unit to go upwards in the points table for the forthcoming season. This season, Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal will return as a pair to guard the team from the cover positions. These two were sensational as a pair when they represented the Gujarat franchise.
The opposition raiders will have to vary the corner combo of Rinku and Sombir who have been the franchise since their PKL debuts. The likes of Bittu and Gokul Kannan made their presence felt in the maiden season in PKL with U Mumba and men in orange have retained them with a look towards the future. If the defense stands tall, then U Mumba could be unreachable.
U Mumba’s predicted starting seven for PKL 11:
Raiders – Amirmohammed Zafardanesh, Manjeet Dhaiya and Ajit Chauhan
Defenders – Rinku Sharma (Right Corner), Sombir Goswami (Left Corner), Sunil Kumar (Right Cover) and Parvesh Bhainswal (Left Cover).
