Sanket Sawant sold to the Patna Pirates after five seasons with the Puneri Paltan.

Sanket Sawant entered the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) auction with a base price of INR 20 lakhs. Patna Pirates started the bid for the 25-year-old defender. U Mumba joined the bidding war in no time but took an exit even sooner, making way for Gujarat Giants.

Patna Pirates and Gujarat engaged in a long bidding war and took the price over INR 40 lakhs. Gujarat Giants exited the bid, allowing Sanket to join Patna Pirates for INR 40.75 lakhs. With Puneri Paltan choosing not to use their FBM card, Sanket Sawant will have a new franchise to join after serving the Pune-based franchise for five seasons.

The PKL 12 Auction is underway in Mumbai and will take place across two days on May 31 and June 1.

A look at Sanket Sawant’s PKL journey

Sanket Sawant began his PKL journey with Puneri Paltan in Season 7 and has been part of the Pune-based club since then. In his debut season, he earned seven points from five matches and followed it up with 26 points from 23 matches in PKL 2021.

The 25-year-old player earned 30 points from 24 matches in the ninth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. Sanket bagged 32 points and 27 points in PKL Season 10 and 11, respectively, from 59 matches across both seasons.

Sanket Sawant won the PKL title with Puneri Paltan in PKL Season 10, but the team chose not to retain his services beyond the 2025 edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.

Overall, the left cover has earned 122 tackle points from 95 matches, including three Super Tackles. Sanket has a tackle success rate of 37% and a total of 324 tackles across five seasons in the Pro Kabaddi League.
