PKL 12 Auction: Vijay Malik stays with Telugu Titans; team use FBM for star all-rounder

Vijay Malik performed admirably for Telugu Titans last year.
Vijay Malik was sold for ₹51.5 lakhs to his previous team, Telugu Titans at the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) auction, after a fierce three-way bidding battle involving Gujarat Giants, Dabang Delhi, and Bengal Warriors.
Telugu Titans earlier bought Bharat Hooda for 81 lakhs and have finalised their top 2 raiders and will now be focusing on the third raider and defensive unit at the auction.
The Giants kicked off the bidding at ₹30 lakhs, with Bengal Warriors joining in soon after. Dabang Delhi, keen to reunite with their Season 8 final star, also entered the fray. Eventually, Bengal Warriors emerged as the highest bidder at ₹51.5 lakhs. However, their party was spoiled as Telugu Titans exercised their Final Bid Match card for one year.
A look at Vijay Malik’s PKL journey
Vijay Malik made his Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) debut with Patna Pirates in Season 5, scoring 64 points in his debut season and following it up with 73 points in Season 6.. He did well in the chances he had. In Season 7, he got a new team, Dabang Delhi, and there he got 62 points.
Then in Season 8, he had his breakthrough season, scoring 162 points in 23 matches, playing the key role as Delhi’s 2nd raider. He showed a great performance in the final, scoring 13 points and helped Dabang Delhi to lift their historic maiden title in season 8, defeating Patna Pirates in a thriller match.
Delhi retained him for season 9, where he had a decent outing, scoring 82 points in 11 matches, maintaining a solid 62% raid strike rate and a 42% successful tackle rate.. However, he was released by Delhi next season due to Injury Concerns and was picked up by UP Yoddhas in the auction.
He didn’t perform well for UP and scored 47 points in 14 seasons, and had a bad season. However, he made a comeback in the last season and redeemed himself. He scored 183 points in 22 matches and was the main player of Telugu Titans. It was quite surprising that Telugu released him.
Now, Vijay Malik is back with his team and will be looking to help Telugu Titans to win their maiden PKL Trophy.
