PKL 12: [Watch] Joginder Narwal gets angry when asked about poor performance of defenders

Puneri Paltan took the top spot in the PKL 12 points table by thrashing Dabang Delhi.

Puneri Paltan and Dabang Delhi produced one of the most entertaining clashes of Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) that saw Puneri Paltan emerge victorious in the tie-breaker.

Delhi were ahead in the tie and almost had the game in their bag until Puneri decided to script a comeback from behind. Mohit Goyat came off the bench and helped Paltan bring the game to level terms. Ajinkya Pawar’s unsuccessful raid in the tie-breaker proved to be the losing moment for Delhi.

After the match, representatives from both teams addressed the media.

Dabang Delhi

Thoughts on the game

Dabang Delhi head coach Joginder Narwal shared his views on the match and said, “It was just a good match. Both teams are good. Both teams have already qualified for the top 8. The players of both teams are also equal. This match was not supposed to go to the tie-breaker, but due to some mistakes, it did. Ajinkya made a mistake in the fifth raid.

He also added, “Ajinkya’s performance was good, but he couldn’t handle it when the time came, and even the defence could not handle it at all. The defence did well several times. But when the time came, mistakes happened, both in defence and offense.”

Joginder Narwal got angry

Joginder Narwal expressed his disagreement with the reporters on the performance of his defenders and said, “My defenders played well. Mistakes are made in Kabaddi, and how can you say that our defenders did not play well?”

“You cannot say that the defense didn’t work. You media people are making a mountain out of a molehill. In the last match, you created a controversy between me and Manpreet. Stop making such a fuss,” he added.

Puneri Paltan

On Winning Strategy

Puneri Paltan head coach Ajay Thakur revealed his winning strategy and said, “I had just said that we will keep two raiders, and we did it. I think it would have been a one-sided match if we had played with a little patience; we made a few mistakes.”

“They are such a good team, so they had to win the match, and they made a good comeback too, but our strategy today was that we would play in a five-man format,” he added.

Thoughts on the next match against Jaipur Pink Panthers

Thakur also shared his views on the Jaipur Pink Panthers ahead of their next game and said, “This is going to be a huge challenge, and there is no doubt in this. So I will try to play with the new boys because I do not want anyone to get injured right now. Their team is good, and they fight a lot. I think Nitin Dhankhar has also made a comeback, and he is an excellent raider.

“If he plays, we will have to plan for him because he is a good raider. Fast raiders are always a problem for the defense. So he is a very fast raider, so we will make a complete plan on how to catch him,” he concluded.

Who tops the PKL 12 points table?

Puneri Paltan took the top spot at the end of Day 40 of PKL 12.
