PKL 12: Patna Pirates sign Ankit Rana, Milan Dahiya as New Young Players

Both players are part of Patna Pirates’ strategy to diversify raiding department.

Three-time Pro Kabaddi League champions Patna Pirates have signed promising talents Ankit Rana and Milan Dahiya as New Young Players (NYP) for the upcoming PKL Season 12. The announcements, made through the team’s official social media handles on Tuesday, come as the Pirates look to rebuild following their runner-up finish in Season 11.

Milan Dahiya, who clinched gold at the 50th Junior Nationals Kabaddi Championship is a one part of addition to the Pirates’ roster and brings a success at the junior level and is a part of Pirates plan to put impetus on offense. Dahiya is a right raider, who played for Murthal Magnets in Yuva Kabaddi Series and stacked up 116 points at 7.73 points per matches.

Left raider Ankit Rana’s signing appears to be part of the Pirates’ calculated strategy to diversify their raiding department. The Pirates, known for nurturing young raiders like Ayan Lohchab who had a brilliant season with 184 raid points at 7.36 raid points per match and Rana’a acquisition is similar blueprint to it.

Patna Pirates in PKL 11

The Patna Pirates mounted an impressive campaign in Pro Kabaddi League’s 11 season. The three-time champion finished fourth in the league stage with a robust record of 13 wins and two ties and their playoff journey proved equally compelling, as they eliminated U Mumba 31-23 before securing a hard-fought 32-28 semifinal victory over Dabang Delhi.

But eventually Haryana Steelers got better of the eastern side as they defeated them 31-23, to bag their first PKL title.

For Pirates, the season saw some impressive performance and one of the major highlights came in the form of young raider Devank Dalal, who emerged as the league’s top scorer with an extraordinary 301 raid points across 25 matches and the defensive front was managed by Ankit Jaglan, who anchored the team with 79 tackle points.
