PKL 12: Ajay Thakur gives big statement on Dabang Delhi ahead of tonight's clash

Puneri Paltan secure their place in the top 8 of PKL 12 by thrashing Tamil Thalaivas.

Puneri Paltan secured yet another win in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) by defeating Tamil Thalaivas in a one-sided match.

Aslam Inamdar-led Paltan put together a complete team effort and secured two points to strengthen their position in second place in the points table. Pankaj Mohite also brought his best game to the table and notched up nine raid points as Puneri Paltan secured a 13-point win over the Thalaivas.

After the match, representatives from both teams addressed the media.

“We started well, the points went up and down, but there was a little lack of success in the raiding department today. We gave a nine-point lead and could not cover it Pune’s defence played well in the second half and did not give points to our raiders, and that’s how we lost.”

Plan ahead

Tamil Thalaivas skipper Arjun Deshwal spoke about his side’s plan ahead and said, “The mindset now is that we need to win all the remaining matches, and today also we had come with a plan, but it was unsuccessful. We made mistakes in raiding, and whatever has happened now, we cannot correct it.”

“We have to rectify our mistakes in the next match. There is a match with UP, and our team is standing at such a place that victory is important for us, so now we will plan and try to correct the mistakes in practice.”

Thoughts on the win

Puneri Paltan head coach Ajay Thakur opened up about his feelings on the game and said, “Today’s match was played with great understanding. It was an excellent performance from everyone, and not just one player. I cannot even say today that whatever mistakes were made will be rectified. We played our best game today, and if we play like this, then I don’t think I need to worry.”

Thoughts on the match against Dabang Delhi

Thakur shared his views on Dabang Delhi ahead of their next clash and said, “I am telling you again that they are a team at par with us. In our last match against Dabang Delhi, we had mostly won it, but Sachin forgot about the time.”

“Delhi’s team is good, and their raiders are the biggest thing. Their raiders are at our level. My team’s strength is our strong attack and defense. Their maturity level is very high. Both teams have the combination of youth and experience,” he concluded.
