UP Yoddhas have retained most number of elite players.

UP Yoddhas have retained their core squad ahead of the PKL player auction 2025. They have retained 12 players and have released six players heading into the auction, scheduled to take place on May 31 and June 1.

The Yoddhas have retained the most number of Elite players, retaining five athletes including Sumit, Bhavani Rajput, Sahul Kumar, Surender Gill, and Ashu Singh. They have also extended the services of Hitesh, Gagan Gowada, and Shivam Chaudhary in the Retained Young Players category.

UP Yoddhas were among the top-performing teams in Pro Kabaddi League 2024 and have retained majority of the players as they look to challenge for the silverware. Additionally, they have named four budding talents in their Existing New Young Players lineup for PKL 12.

On that note, let’s take a look at the list of players released and retained by UP Yoddhas ahead of the PKL Season 12 auction.

List of players retained by UP Yoddhas

Elite Retained Players: Sumit, Bhavani Rajput, Sahul Kumar, Surender Gill, Ashu Singh

Retained Young Players: Hitesh, Gagan Gowda HR, Shivam Chaudhary

Existing New Young Players: Jakesh Vikas Mahajan, Gangaram, Sachin, Keshav Kumar

List of players released by UP Yoddhas

Heidarali Ekrami, Akshay R Suryawanshi, Mohammadreza Kaboudrahangi, Bharat Hooda, Vivek, Mahender Singh

UP Yoddhas finished third in the regular league stage of PKL 11 with 79 points and a score difference of 97. They registered 13 wins, six losses, and three ties from 22 outings in the previous edition of the competition.

The Uttar Pradesh-based franchise thrashed Jaipur Pink Panthers 46-18 in Eliminator 1 before bowing out of the tournament in the semis. They lost to Haryana Steelers 28-25 by the barest of margins to see them exit the competition in the PKL Playoffs.

Having retained most of their regular starters, UP Yoddhas will have light work to do at the PKL Player Auction. They will take it easy and will look to secure some good foreign players and backup players.
