PKL 12: Why did Ashu Malik miss tonight's clash against Bengal Warriorz?

Ashu Malik missed his first match in PKL 12.
Dabang Delhi squared off against Bengal Warriorz in match 73 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12) on Saturday, October 9, at the SDAT multi-purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
Bengal Warriorz are placed 11th in the PKL 2025 points table with six points from 10 encounters, including three wins and seven losses. They have a score difference of -36 thus far in the ongoing edition of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Meanwhile, Dabang Delhi are placed atop the standings with 22 points and a whopping score difference of 72 from 12 games. They have registered 11 wins and lost only one match so far this season. Delhi are on a five-match winning streak and have won all four games in the Chennai leg.
Having said that, they are without the services of their skipper, Ashu Malik, when they take the mat against Bengal Warriorz on Thursday. Let’s explore why Ashu is unavailable for tonight’s game:
Why was Ashu Malik not available against the Bengal Warriorz?
Dabang Delhi captain Ashu Malik is not playing tonight’s game against the Bengal Warriorz due to an injury he sustained during the franchise’s previous encounter against Haryana Steelers. He suffered an injury on his right leg and was substituted for all-rounder Naveen.
Ashu Malik earned four raid points (two touch points and two bonus points) from seven raids against the Steelers. He completed four successful raids and returned with three unsuccessful during his franchise’s last outing.
The Indian raider is not said to have recovered yet from the leg injury and thus is not playing the game against the Bengal-based franchise. The franchise will focus on his recovery ahead of the upcoming leg in Delhi, with the home side playing their first match on Thursday, October 12.
Ashu Malik has earned 148 points (146 raid points and two tackle points) from 237 raids across 12 matches so far this season. He has seven Super Raids and seven Super 10s to his name. The star player averages 12.16 raid points per match.
In Ashu’s absence, Iranian star defender Fazel Atrachali is leading the team.
