One of the teams is suffering from positive cases leading to the postponement of the fixture.

Season 8 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is in full flow, despite the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation in India. The secure bio-bubble at the Sheraton Grand, Whitefield in Bengaluru is the venue for the tournament. However, one of the fixtures from Sunday has been postponed due to the emergence of positive cases of the virus.

The contest between Dabang Delhi and UP Yoddha will be rescheduled by the league organizers Mashal Sports.

A source close to development believes that a team has reported positive RT-PCR reports. He stated, "Due to the positive COVID-19 cases, one of the outfits will be unable to field a team. As a precautionary measure, the organizers are calling off the match, much to the disappointment of the fans. The organizing committee, according to standard procedure, will send players into isolation until they return negative reports."

Not the first time

This is not the first time that a breach in the bio-bubble has led to the postponement of matches in PKL 8. Previously, teams like Gujarat Giants, Patna Pirates and Jaipur Pink Panthers saw the cancellation of their matches. Around 15+ positive coronavirus cases emerged in the previous spell.

There were no hiccups in the last few days as the kabaddi action took place between the teams. However, the new breach in the bio-bubble is definitely a matter of huge concern. It is worth noting that the PKL is making a comeback after two years since the pandemic began and the organizers are doing everything in their power to hold the league smoothly.

Dabang Delhi are leading the points table and are one of the major contenders to win the title this year. Their clash with UP Yoddha was heavily anticipated amongst the fans, who will be left disappointed now. Having said that, the health of the players and the non-playing staff is of paramount importance.
