The raider took Dabang Delhi to their first title victory.
Dabang Delhi finally ended their quest for a Pro Kabaddi League title in Season 8 after defeating Patna Pirates in a close final. Star raider Naveen Kumar played an important part in Delhi's journey to the coveted crown.
Kumar scored a total of 13 points in the final for Dabang Delhi. They defeated three-time champions Patna Pirates 37-36 in a close battle. All-rounder Vijay Malik also played a huge part in Delhi's title win, as he notched 14 points in the final.
Both teams went toe-to-toe in the final for the title. Some key decisions from the coaches also affected the result of the final. For Patna Pirates, young raider Sachin Tanwar scored 10 points, however, his efforts went in vain.
The players are now returning to their homes after putting up valiant efforts in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8. They are getting a grand welcome in their villages. Naveen Kumar also returned home following his title-winning performance in the final against a strong Patna side.
He recently returned to his village Bhaini Kungad. It is located in Haryana's Bhiwani district. People came in big numbers to celebrate their hero's victory in the Pro Kabaddi League. The villagers started a parade with Naveen and covered the whole village on foot.
Naveen Kumar was terrific in the last season of the league. He scored more than 200 raid points, with a success rate of 53%. The raider also scored 12 Super 10s and three super raids.
He put out 12.18 raids per match which speaks volumes of his importance in the Dabang Delhi side. The team's coach Krishan Kumar Hooda will hope that his top raider would continue his good run of form in the upcoming season as well.
In an exclusive interview with Khel Now, Naveen Kumar shared his thoughts on his future. He remarked that after the Pro Kabaddi League, his main focus will be on the National Championships and Asian Games.
