Ajith Kumar snapped up by Jaipur Pink Panthers for Rs66 lakhs
The player could prove to be a game-changer for the franchise
One of the hot favourites of this auction, Ajith Kumar, went for a massive ₹66 lakhs to the Jaipur Pink Panthers. The Panthers, who only retained a single raider in the form of Arjun Deshwal, now have Ajith in their squad, and together they can turn the tables for the team.
Career Profile
Ajith Kumar played for U Mumba in the previous season and did exceptionally well, with 159 raid points to his name. His raid strike rate was around 54%, which is not bad at all. The Tamil Nadu-born player was not expected to go for this much because of the hype of some prominent names, but his bidding was impressive when the three big franchises, Gujarat Giants, Patna Pirates, and Jaipur Pink Panthers, were desperate to have him in the line-up.
While Gujarat Giants bid till ₹50 lakhs, Patna Pirates went on to bid over ₹60 lakhs for Ajith Kumar. However, Ajith’s destiny was written with the Men in Pink.
Apart from Ajith Singh, there were several big players who went under the hammer and became millionaires, including Pawan Sehrawat, Pardeep Narwal, and Vikash Kandola, to name a few.
U Mumba must be thinking why they released Ajith even when the raider played a handy part in the previous edition of the PKL. Well, it is now important to see how Panthers would use the services of Ajith Singh.
In the previous edition, Panthers just missed the qualification by just three points. They won 10 games out of 22 and lost 10 while two ended in a tie. The franchise would not want to take any chances this time and is looking to build a strong team. Do you think Ajith Singh could be a game-changer for the Jaipur Pink Panthers?
