Pawan Sehrawat creates history; sold for Rs2.26 crores to Tamil Thalaivas
The raider won the Most Valuable Player award in PKL 6
All eyes were on the ace Kabaddi player, Pawan Sehrawat in the PKL 9 auction, and the former captain of Bengaluru Bulls didn’t disappoint at all when his name came up in the auction. He was sold for a record-breaking amount of ₹2.26 crores. The franchises were unstoppable in their bidding, but the giant player was eventually sold to Tamil Thalaivas. His former team, Bengaluru Bulls, did not go for FBM, which further gave Thalaivas the player they wanted.
From the moment the Bulls released Pawan Sehrawat, it appeared that Tamil Thalaivas and U Mumba made plans to bring the champion player into their squad. No one ever thought that Pawan Sehrawat could go for this much. Earlier in the auction, Vikash Khandola was sold for ₹1.70 crores to Bengaluru Bulls, who did not retain Pawan Sehrawat. But Pawan went for an even higher amount of ₹2.26 crores, which is a record created in the Pro Kabaddi League auctions.
Thalaivas splash the cash
Sehrawat had a brilliant Season 8 and the news of his release was out of syllabus for every franchise. He earned 304 Raid Points and had a brilliant Raid Strike Rate of 64%. He even showed his defending skills by attaining 16 points last season. Without any doubt, Bengaluru Bulls made a mistake by releasing Sehrawat.
The Tamil Thalaivas, who struggled last season, appeared desperate for Pawan the moment bidding began. They got a very tough fight from U Mumba, but Thalaivas bagged the champion raider in the end. The franchise has now won their first battle and will now look to stun everyone in the upcoming season.
Pawan Sehrawat, who won the Most Valuable Player Award for Season 6, should be given the title of the most valuable kabaddi player as well. His excellent performance in successive seasons earned him this whopping amount. Pawan Sehrawat became everyone’s favourite when he helped his franchise win the PKL 6 title. Now, his skills are required by the Thalaivas so that they can make a long jump on the points table.
