PKL 9 day 9 live updates: Bengaluru Bulls vs UP Yoddhas
07:30 Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live update of day 9 of PKL season 9.
Puneri Paltan vs U Mumba
Puneri Paltan, who will play U Mumba, are coming from a defeat against Gujarat Giants losing by a 10-plus points margin. Aslam Inamdar was the star for Puneri scoring his second super 10 of the season with Mohit Goyat providing good support both in attack and defence in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 9. The foreign recruits Nabibaksh and Fazel failed to perform which could have been due to a lack of match practice.
U Mumba on the other hand is having a good time after the initial hiccup winning a crucial encounter against Tamil Talaivas 39-32. Guman Singh in particular stood up when it mattered the most scoring a super 10 and leading the raiding department. U Mumba at present occupies the fifth spot and Puneri Paltan occupies the 11th spot in the points table.
Head to Head
U Mumba holds a slight edge over Puneri Paltan winning nine matches with Puneri Platans winning seven in 18 matches played overall. Puneri Paltan defeated U Mumba in both the matches played in PKL 8.
Player to watch
Mohammed Nabibaksh was one of the most successful Iranians in the history of PKL scoring points in both attack and defence. He hasn’t put up his best form since the last season playing for Bengal Warriors. Puneri Paltan put full faith in the all-rounder buying him for a big price and will need to put up a good show along with the young all-rounder Mohit Goyat.
Ashish was in great form in the last match against Tamil Thalaivas scoring a super 10. Guman Singh was provided with good support from the secondary raiders and will need to continue the same form going into the match against Puneri Paltan.
Bengaluru Bulls vs UP Yoddhas
Bengaluru Bulls will play UP Yoddhas after a positive start to PKL season 9 winning their opening encounters. However, they did lose to Bengal Warriors by a big margin. None of the players stood up tall and performed well. Vikash Kandola and Bharat scored seven and eight points respectively which did not prove to be enough. Bharat primarily a secondary raider scored a super 10 in the season but Vikash Kandola did not step up to the primary raider role.
UP Yoddhas were in a good position to win the previous encounter against Dabang Delhi but lost the plot in the dying minutes losing by a margin of two points. There is not to separate the teams in the points table with Bengaluru Bulls at the 6th spot and UP Yoddha positioned at the eighth spot.
Head to head
Bengaluru Bulls and UP Yoddhas have faced each other in 11 matches in Pro Kabaddi League. Out of the 11 games played, Bengaluru Bulls have won seven. Whereas UP Yoddhas have come out victorious on four occasions.
Players to watch
Mahendra Singh after being appointed as the captain has not given his best performance in PKL 9. In the past, he has made many unsuccessful tackles but now after being appointed the captainship needs to control the defence and the team. Being one of the main defenders along with Saurabh Nandal it is time for Mahendra Singh to step up against UP Yoddhas.
Surendra Gill scored 21 raid points in the last match against Dababng Delhi single-handedly taking home the match but UP Yoddhas fell short of 2 points. Out of the 42 points, Surendra GIll scored 21 points which is half the team points showing how important he is to the team in the presence of Pardeep Narwal and Nitin Tomar who have more experience than him.
