Taking inspiration from documentary of 2020, says Jaipur Pink Panthers CEO
The franchise has an interesting strategy in terms of recruitment.
Jaipur Pink Panthers is one of the most exciting franchises in the Pro Kabaddi League. The premier kabaddi league competition in the country sees top talent in the sport take to the mat in order to attain supremacy. A mega auction recently took place for the upcoming ninth edition of the league which will see more competitiveness than ever before.
When it comes to winning the league, the Jaipur Pink Panthers hold the honour of being the first-ever winners. However, the winners of the inaugural edition have not won the competition again and would like to secure their second PKL title in the upcoming season. For this reason, the franchise is focusing on clever recruitment such as signing Ajith Kumar for season nine.
In exclusive chat with Khel Now, the Jaipur Pink Panthers owner Abhishek Bachchan and CEO Bunty Walia have explained their recruitment strategy, the importance of proper scouting, building a strong team for the new season, and having a good mix of players that could deliver the title. Here are the excerpts from the same:
Scouting Ideal Talent
Talking about the importance of bringing young talent into the fold, the franchise believes they have the right combination ahead of the new season. Bunty said, “We have been working hard to scout the ideal talent for the season. It has been a tough journey, but we are confident that we have the right team for the season. To make sure we have the best team possible, we have been looking at a lot of different factors and taking into account the input of our coaches and support staff. These factors include the player's skill level, potential, attitude, and work ethic.”
“We believe that we have found a good mix of players who have the potential to do well in the upcoming season.” they further added, feeling positive about the recruitment.
Inspiration From The Documentary
A documentary film was made on the Jaipur Pink Panthers called Sons of the Soil. It was very inspirational. While talking about the same, they said, “We are inspired by the documentary that was released in 2020. It has given us a lot of insight into how we should build our team and what our goals should be.”
“From what we have seen, the documentary is an excellent example of how to achieve success in the face of adversity. We are confident that we can take what we have learned from it and use it to our advantage in the upcoming season. We're optimistic that we can do big things this season and make a run at the title.” they added beaming with confidence.
Squad Rebuilding Challenges
The Jaipur Pink Panthers have brought in several fresh faces to the team in order to have a better chance of winning the Pro Kabaddi League. Talking about the challenges of a squad rebuild and how long it takes to hit the ground running, they said, “Squad rebuilding can be a complicated process. You need to make sure that you're bringing in the right mix of players and making sure they gel well together.”
“It can take some time to get everything up and running smoothly, but we are confident that we have the right team in place. We have a lot of talent and we're looking forward to competing against the best teams in the league,” they further expressed.
