Tamil Thalaivas have made a tremendous team for the 9th season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). They have cemented their title winning hopes on PKL's most successful raider from the last three seasons, Pawan Kumar Sehrawat. They paid a record amount during the auction last month to acquire him for season 9. Tamil Thalaivas did well last season but so far they have failed to win big matches. This is the reason that they focused on acquiring quality players during the auction to win the title in the upcoming season. Before the start of the season, lets know the strength and weakness of Tamil Thalaivas.

Strength of the team

Pawan Sehrawat will be the biggest strength of the team

The biggest strength of Tamil Thalaivas will be Pawan Sehrawat this time. With his arrival, the team will be seen giving a tough challenge to the rest of the teams in the raiding department. In the auction of the ninth season, Thalaivas bought Pawan Sehrawat as the most expensive player in the history of the league by bidding a record amount of Rs 2.26 crore for him. Since Pawan has got the biggest amount in the tournament's history, then he will have the responsibility to prove it right with his performances. Pawan has been the best raider for the last three seasons and he has the ability to take the Thalaivas closer to the title for the first time. If Pawan stays in his rhythm then the team's fans can get a chance to be happy for the first time. 

Sagar has got the defence covered 

Sagar was once again retained by the Tamil Thalaivas as he was the second best defender last season. He took 83 tackle points last season, including eight high-5s. He did not play well in the beginning but as the tournament progressed he picked up his momentum. Tamil Thalaivas will have high hopes from Sagar this time. He can prove to be a very dangerous defender.

Weakness of the team

Over dependence on Pawan and Sagar 

Although Pawan Sehrawat has the ability to win games on his own, he will still need support from others but apart from him, there is no other big raider in the team. Ajinkya Panwar will be their assist raider but if unfortunately Pawan gets injured or his form is not that good then it would put a lot of pressure on Ajinkya Panwar to handle the raiding responsibility on his own. Ajinkya has mostly played the role of assist raider so far, so handling the responsibility of main raider can be challenging for him. This is one of the major drawbacks of Tamil Thalaivas. They should have included another raider in the team. 

At the same time, in defense too, the team will revolve around Sagar.  Tamil Thalaivas could not create backup for all their positions due to Pawan Sehrawat's bid of more than 2 crores. They spent so much money on one player that there was not much money left for the rest of the players. In such a situation, if Sagar fails, then the defense may collapse.

Keep an eye on these players

In PKL-9, the player to watch out for Tamil Thalaivas will be Pawan Sehrawat. The team will be expecting a charismatic performance from him once again. Apart from this, all eyes are also going to be on the retained defender Sagar. If Pawan and Sagar play to their full potential, then the Thalaivas can at least make the way to the play-offs. Apart from this, Ajinkya Pawar, Sahil and Abhishek will also have to give good support to Pawan Sehrawat and Sagar.
