Both players remained unsold in the auction that happened last month.
Big news for the Kabaddi fans as Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) legend Sandeep Narwal joined the Gujarat Giants camp ahead of the ninth edition of the league. Apart from the legendary defender, Rohit Kumar too will play for the Giants in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 9. After going unsold in the auctions, fans of both these players were disappointed after the auction, but their inclusion in the strong franchise is a big plus for both the Gujarat Giants and them.
Sandeep Narwal in the previous edition
Sandeep Narwal was a part of Dabang Delhi in the previous edition and played a prominent role in making them champions. He scored 38 tackle points in PKL 8 and was always involved in the decision-making process of the team. It was a surprising moment when he went unsold in the auction, as he is one of the top defenders to have ever played this game. Sandeep’s inclusion in the Gujarat Giants will be a big boost for the team as his experience will come in handy.
Rohit Kumar gets Gujarat Giants
Rohit Kumar is also one of the biggest names in PKL history. He began his PKL career in 2016 and has not looked back since then. In the previous edition, Rohit was a part of the Telugu Titans but played only 8 matches. He scored 12 raid points and 6 tackle points, which is way below his ability. With the Gujarat Giants, if he gets a chance this season, Rohit will be under pressure to perform.
Experienced players make the cut
Gujarat Giants tried their level best to get Pardeep Narwal in the auction, but UP Yoddha retained him by using their FBM. Indeed, Rohit and Sandeep might not fill the gap of a player like Pardeep Narwal, but their inclusion would boost the team’s confidence a lot. Even if they play half of the games this year, the duo could take the franchise into the playoffs.
PKL Season 9 is set to begin on October 7. With teams now taking unsold players, it would be interesting to see who is going to be added in Season 9 now.
