PKL 9: Tamil Thalaivas Fixtures and Schedule

The team will play their first game against Gujarat Giants on October 8.

Tamil Thalaivas had a disappointing end to last season, finishing just above Telugu Titans on the points table. It was clear that the franchise needed a breath of fresh air. The management seems to have taken the last season’s failure quite personally.

The Thalaivas scripted history at the Season 9 Auction. They acquired the services of arguably the best raider in Kabaddi – Pawan Sehrawat – for a record-breaking amount of 2.26 Crores. They went all out on the superstar and were firm in their bidding. 

The Thalaivas have decided to continue with Coach Udaya Kumar, even after the abysmal season 8. Pawan’s arrival will surely change the fortunes of the franchise. It will be surprising if the Thalaivas do not qualify for the knockout rounds this season.

The Tamil Thalaivas have a massive upgrade in their raiding unit from last season with the addition of Pawan. They have retained the young and swift Ajinkya Pawar ahead of the auction. Pawar put in some eye-catching performances for the Thalaivas last season. The Pawan-Pawar duo has a lot on its shoulders because of the Thalaivas lack of depth in the raiding department. The lack of depth should not be a concern as Pawan has carried his former teams singlehandedly. 

The corner-combination of Sagar and Sahil will have to step up this season after the departure of captain PO Surjeet Singh. Sagar had a breakthrough season last year with the Thalaivas. The franchise also brought in youngster Arpit Saroha for the squad depth. 

The fans of the Tamil Thalaivas would be expecting glory after the addition of Pawan Sehrawat to their team.
