PKL 9: Tamil Thalaivas host U Mumba in Match 16

Pawan Sehrawat's team will look to secure their first win of the tournament.

U Mumba after a poor start to the season bounced back well beating the stronger UP Yoddhas after losing to Dabang Delhi KC. Presently U Mumba stands eighth on the points table. Tamil Thalaivas are yet to win after losing to Haryana Steelers and tying against Gujarat Giants. The southern side is placed 10th.

Both teams have played each other seven times with U Mumba winning five times with one tie. U Mumba has always been dominant for the past few seasons.

Player to watch

It's high time for Ajinkya Pawar to step up after being retained from the last season. He was one of the best raiders from the Tamil Thalaivas setup apart from Manjeet being the do-or-die specialist in the last season even after missing out on the initial few games. In season 9 as well after the injury of Pawan Sehrawat there is added responsibility of being the experienced raider.

Guman Singh

After being brought for a high bid crossing the 1 Cr. mark Guman Singh has not stepped up to the expectations of U Mumba. He scored only five points in raiding in their win against UP Yoddhas getting support from other secondary raiders. 

Key to Success

For Tamil Thalaivas raiding department needs to show attacking skills in the raiding rather than going for a tie or a point. Last season the side finished with six ties which were one of the main reasons for them not qualifying for the playoffs.  

Surender Singh has matured after taking responsibility as the captain. He has been putting in a few unsuccessful tackles but has improved looking at his performance in the initial matches. Overall the defence has been good helping the raiders to get back to the court sooner and taking crucial points.
