The raider has been one of the best performers for Patna Pirates during the ongoing season.
The Patna Pirates have been performing really brilliantly in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 8. They became the first outfit to secure qualification into the playoffs this year. Despite the absence of Pardeep Narwal who joined UP Yoddha, the Pirates kept winning crucial games, justifying their status as three-time PKL champions. Many players have been the secret to Patna’s success and one of them is Sachin Tanwar, who came to the team from Gujarat Giants.
The raider has been performing extremely well for the Patna Pirates this season. Scoring more than 100 points in the campaign, he has guided the team to crucial wins on many occasions. While speaking exclusively to Khel Now, Sachin Tanwar talked about his career’s start, his most prominent skill and whom he trusts the most.
Kabaddi a strong influence on family
Sachin Tanwar did not have any doubts while choosing kabaddi as his career due to the immense influence of the sport on his family. Many people from his family played the sport, which attracted him to it. He recollected, “Everyone in my family was involved in kabaddi and that is why I also joined the sport. My father, brother and uncle used to play the sport and I felt there was scope after entering the PKL. This was the start of the kabaddi career.”
Patna Pirates have won several important matches this season and the team have not suffered defeat many times. Sachin Tanwar’s contributions has been massive towards the team’s good performances. He talked about why the team have been performing consistently and how he managed to become a star raider in the squad.
Sachin Tanwar remarked, “The secret to our success is the two-month-long camp and the brilliant training by the coach. The practice sessions that the coach took have helped us in delivering good performances. I attack according to the match situation and I keep taking advice from the coach, Neeraj Kumar and Prashant.”
Getting released by Gujarat Giants
Sachin Tanwar was part of the Gujarat Giants setup in the seventh season of the PKL and used to handle raiding responsibilities for the team. However, he was released before this season’s mega auction. Since joining the Patna Pirates before this campaign, his performances have not seen any sort of dip.
The raider touched upon this by saying, “I was not upset after the Gujarat Giants decided to release me. I was giving my best in that team and this is my aim in the ongoing season as well. Coming to the Patna Pirates was not a huge change, as every player knows one another beforehand. My attempt is to try to score points in every raid.”
The biggest trust is in the hand touch
Every raider has a skill that they trust and utilize in order to score as many points as possible. Similarly, Sachin Tanwar also has a skill in which he puts a lot of trust. He said, “I trust in hand touch a lot and I try to use it frequently. It is my favourite.”
The Patna Pirates have won the PKL title three times in the past and would like to win it this year as well. Players like Sachin will be crucial, if that ambition is to become reality.
