The capital-based side defeated Patna Pirates in a thrilling encounter.
Dabang Delhi became the winners of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) by defeating Patna Pirates in the final of season eight. The score was 37-36 at the end in favour of the team from the national capital. The premier kabaddi competition of India concluded after a sensational season that returned after a gap of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was a very close encounter between the two teams. Patna’s defence and Delhi’s attack were their main weapons, prepared by experienced coaches on the sidelines. The final was eventually decided by incredible individual performances, which won the hearts of the fans.
On that note, here are the player ratings from the final between Patna Pirates vs Dabang Delhi:
Patna Pirates
Sachin - 8.5
Sachin began the match on a fiery note with several hand touches. He scored nine points in raids and also managed a tackle point on the incredible Naveen Kumar, sending his team into the lead at the halftime break of the PKL Season 8 final.
Neeraj Kumar - 4.0
The defender did not have a good performance in the final. He came away with four unsuccessful tackles and got one bonus point, the only return in the match.
Sajin C - 5.0
Sajin made only one successful tackle during the final and was let down by two unsuccessful tackles, one of which led to a super raid by Vijay Malik. His performance was underwhelming, to say the least.
Prashanth Kumar - 5.5
The captain of Patna Pirates had a lukewarm PKL outing against the Dabang Delhi in the final. He scored only two points in the match until he got substituted by the coach, which was a negative decision as it left the team short on the raiders in the end.
Guman Singh - 7.0
Guman Singh also had a strong first-half performance alongside Sachin. The tall raider scored nine points but five empty raids would be personally disappointing for him. Ending up on the losing side will be tough for the raider.
Sunil - 4
Sunil’s performance can be gauged by his score which was zero points. Furthermore, he made two unsuccessful tackles, therefore an appearance from the bench was not very successful.
Mohammadreza Chiyaneh - 7.0
There were huge expectations from Mohammadreza Chiyaneh and he did deliver on a few occasions. Three of his five points came from raiding, which was the problem in his performance since the all-rounder is a better defender. He made five unsuccessful tackles during the PKL final.
Substitutes
Monu Goyat - N/A
Did not get a chance to help the team.
Sourav Gulia - 4
Sourav Gulia was substituted to help the defence protect the lead but could not do so. He made three unsuccessful tackles.
Shubham Shinde - 4
Shubham Shinde’s appearance from the bench did not go according to plan either. His two unsuccessful tackles led the team to concede momentum to Dabang Delhi.
Balaji D - N/A
Did not get an opportunity to impact the match.
Monu - 6.5
Monu was the sole raider remaining in the final few minutes of the match and he had to score under pressure. He did get three touch points and two bonus points but could not help the team over the line in the PKL 8 final.
Dabang Delhi
Naveen Kumar - 9.0
Dabang Delhi’s star raider scored 13 points for the team and took the last raid of the match where he needed to go across the white line under immense pressure. He was immense to the team’s overall success and the final too, especially in the clash against Chiyaneh on the right corner.
Sandeep Narwal - 6.0
Sandeep Narwal had a quiet night as the all-rounder collected two points. One of those was a tackle point while the other was a bonus point that came during a raid that led to Delhi getting all-out in the PKL 8 final.
Manjeet Chillar - 7.5
Manjeet Chillar finally lifted the PKL title and was immense in defence once again. The experienced figure scored two tackle points but his guidance made the difference for his team in the end.
Vijay - 9.0
Vijay Malik was absolutely vital to Delhi’s cause, especially in turning the tide of the match in the second half. He scored a couple of super raids that completely changed the momentum in his team’s favour. Vijay ended with 14 points, the highest for an individual in tonight’s PKL final.
Ashu Malik - N/A
Did not get a chance to make an impact.
Krishan Dhull - 3.0
Krishan Dhull had a very disappointing outing. The defender failed to score a point and had three unsuccessful tackles.
Joginder Narwal - 4
Joginder Narwal was rather too hasty in his tackling on the night. He was caught by the opposition raiders several times while making advance tackles and gave away a few silly points.
Substitutes
Jeeva Kumar - 4
Jeeva Kumar came on as a substitute to help slow down Patna’s raiders. While he could not score a tackle point but his arrival did give his team some support in the PKL final.

Was not required from the bench.
Manjeet - N/A
