Patna Pirates have returned to winning ways after defeating Tamil Thalaivas.

Patna Pirates have been delivering good performances in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 8. The three-time PKL champions are in the playoffs race with some commanding victories, despite a COVID-19 outbreak in their camp. Patna Pirates' captain Prashanth Rai acknowledged the remarkable performance of his team in the comeback match against the Tamil Thalaivas.

The 38-year-old was all praise for his team's collective performance against some tough opponents. “Both defenders and raiders are playing together with great coordination. We only follow the mantra of playing as a team game,” said the captain.

Prashanth Rai further talked about the role of defenders in their PKL campaign. He remarked, “Defenders deserve all admiration. Every single defender secured a high-five in the match against Tamil Thalaivas. All of us played in unity. I believe it is our ability to work as a team which led to this kind of performance in the league."

Comeback after COVID-19 outbreak

The Patna Pirates made a great comeback in the league after a gap of a few days. As Khel Now had reported earlier, The organizers of PKL Season 8 had to reschedule the matches of Patna Pirates due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the team’s camp. They did not play their matches against Bengaluru Bulls and Puneri Paltan. Apart from Patna, COVID-19 cases were also found in Gujarat Giants and Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Prashanth Rai’s maturity has been a boon for his team. On being asked about improving the game, Prashanth Rai said, “We have corrected our previous mistakes as a team. This has helped us immensely. We will further continue to improve our game.”

The Pirates defeated Tamil Thalaivas 52-24 in a one-sided encounter. Patna's coach Ram Mehar Singh praised Prashanth Rai’s captaincy and talked about the great comeback. “The team made a great comeback against Tamil Thalaivas. Players benefitted from the gap. They got enough rest and came back strong,” said the Pirates' coach.

Patna Pirates will play against Jaipur Pink Panthers in their upcoming match. They will look to grab a place at the top of the points table.
