PKL: Top five players with most Super Tackles in PKL history
Players in the list are specialists while defending with two or fewer defenders.
Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 9 is on everyone’s mind. With just more than a month left for the most prestigious Kabaddi League, it’s time to look at some more stats of the players. Therefore, we have come up with the top five players with the most Super Tackles in PKL history. Here is the list:
5. Mahender Singh (23 Super Tackles)
Bengaluru Bulls’ player Mahender Singh was retained by the franchise ahead of the auction in the elite category. He has been exceptional since his PKL career began, having scored 23 Super Tackles in just 87 matches. He has been there with the Bulls from the beginning. In the previous edition, Mahender scored 8 Super Tackles in the 20 matches he played. In the upcoming season, he will look to better his stats.
4. Fazel Atrachali (23 Super Tackles)
Iranian legend, Fazel Atrachali, scored 23 Super Tackles in the history of PKL. Though his Super Tackle numbers are not huge, his defending skills are magnificent and are recognised by everyone. He is one of the few players who have played more than 100 PKL games. Overall, he has been a part of 125 matches so far and is now set to begin his campaign with Puneri Paltans in season 9.
In the previous edition, Atrachali scored 5 Super Tackles in his 24 matches. Even after an average performance, the Iranian went for a huge amount in the auction. He was sold to Puneri Paltans for 1.38 crore. It would be interesting to see how he plays in the upcoming edition.
3. Vishal Bharadwaj (24 Super Tackles)
Puneri Paltans’ defender Vishal Bharadwaj has 24 Super Tackles to his name in PKL history, which is the third highest of all time. He has played just five seasons so far and reached this number. With just 80 matches to his name, Vishal still has a lot to prove in the PKL.
In the previous edition, he scored just 3 Super Tackles in 20 matches. This performance was way below his expectations. However, Vishal will look to make a solid comeback in the upcoming edition of the PKL, starting from October 7.
2. Dharmaraj Cheralathan (25 Super Tackles)
One of the best defenders the game of Kabaddi has ever seen, Dharmaraj Cheralathan, is fit even today at the age of 47. He played in the last edition of the PKL with the Jaipur Pink Panthers when the franchise signed him after three days of the tournament. He has 25 Super Tackles in PKL history, which is the second most.
Though Cheralathan played only five games in the last edition, his presence was enough for the side to gain confidence. We can’t ignore the fact that Dharmaraj started his PKL career when he was around 40.
1. Sandeep Narwal (29 Super Tackles)
One of the most experienced players of all time, Sandeep Narwal, has been a legend of the league. With 29 Super Tackles, he is at the top of the table. Sandeep has played 149 matches in the PKL, which is way more than many legends.
Every Kabaddi fan was surprised when Sandeep went unsold in the auction. The all-rounder has done a lot for his franchises to remain in the league, but not getting any franchise was a harsh decision by the teams. Sandeep’s contribution to the game has been immense. Moreover, it would be interesting to see if he gets a buyer just like Vishal Mane recently.
