Maninder Singh, Aslam Inamdar headline PKL 8 Team of Week 5

The past week’s action saw some exceptional performances by high-profile players.

The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 8 is in full flow, with exciting matches taking place every day. The Kabaddi players from respective teams delivered great performances, despite the obstacles created by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there were still many entertaining matches that took place in the division.

The competition is breakneck and every team has the chance to defeat the other on any given day. The nature of the league is unpredictable and most results are decided by the individual brilliance of the players. In the past week as well, many Kabaddi players delivered key performances. They played crucial roles in helping their teams to wins and collecting crucial points. 

Looking back at the action from the last seven days, here is the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 Team of the Week 5:

Raiders

Maninder Singh (Bengal Warriors)

Bengal Warriors' captain Maninder Singh is one of the best raiders in the PKL. He is their main source of points and can single-handedly turn the tide of any match.

He was in good form in the past week as well, scoring two Super 10s. Singh managed 19 points against UP Yoddha and 13 points against Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Pawan Sehrawat (Bengaluru Bulls)

Pawan Kumar Sehrawat is the captain of Bengaluru Bulls and their main raider. He is the core of the team and his performance is more or less directly responsible for the team’s results.

In the past week in PKL 8, Sehrawat made key contributions to the Bulls. He scored three Super 10s against Bengal Warriors, Telugu Titans and Puneri Paltan, scoring 13, 12 and 10 points respectively. 

Arjun Deshwal (Jaipur Pink Panthers)

Arjun Deshwal is one of the best performing raiders this year in the PKL and a key figure for the Jaipur Pink Panthers. He is collecting buckets of points for the outfit, helping them to several important results.

Deshwal scored three Super 10s in each of the three games last week. Specifically, he scored 13 points against Telugu Titans, 15 against Tamil Thalaivas and 10 against Bengal Warriors.

All-rounders

Aslam Inamdar (Puneri Paltan)

Aslam Inamdar has been one of the revelations this year in the PKL and a consistent performer. Puneri Paltan has a great all-rounder in him and is a key figure in the squad.

He scored four, six and eight points against Haryana Steelers, Bengaluru Bulls and Dabang Delhi respectively. Thus, he helped his side to two wins in three games during the week.

Defenders

Jaideep (Haryana Steelers) 

Jaideep is winning a lot of hearts in his first season in PKL 8. Haryana Steelers are a defensively strong unit and Jaideep is their leading performer in that area.

Because of his form, the Steelers won three of their four matches in the week and are in great form thanks to contributions from. He scored a high-five against UP Yoddha and four more tackle points against the Telugu Titans.

Saurabh Nandal (Bengaluru Bulls)

Bengaluru Bulls relied on Saurabh Nandal’s performances over the past week to churn out good results. He scored four points in a close defeat to Bengal Warriors, three against Puneri Paltan and four against Telugu Titans in a crucial win. Nandal finds a place in the Pro Kabaddi League because of his key performances for the team.

Sombir (Puneri Paltan)

Sombir had a good past week in the colours of Puneri Paltan. The strong defender delivered noteworthy performances and gave a good account of himself against the likes of Haryana Steelers, Bengaluru Bulls and Dabang Delhi.

One of the highlights from the defender was a high-five against the Bulls. The Puneri Paltan were able to collect a good number of points because of players like Sombir turning up at the right time.
