These players will look to clinch the title with their team.
We are at the business end of Pro Kabaddi League Season 8, as only two teams remain for the last battle. Dabang Delhi and Patna Pirates will face each other in the final of the ongoing edition of the league. Both teams finished inside the top two in the league table. In the semi-finals, Patna Pirates defeated UP Yoddha, while Dabang Delhi got the better of Bengaluru Bulls.
The two teams have faced each other twice already this season, with Dabang Delhi coming out on top on both occasions. Dabang Delhi won by 32-29 in the first match. They clinched victory by 26-23 in their second clash of Pro Kabaddi League Season 8.
As we build-up for the most important game of the season, let's take a look at the top three key battles to watch for in the final of the tournament.
3. Guman Singh Vs Sandeep Narwal
Guman Singh has been one of the consistent performers of the Patna Pirates this season. The young raider has played 18 matches in Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 and has contributed 88 points for the Pirates. His raids usually come from the left side and thus he will come up against Dabang Delhi’s right-corner Sandeep Narwal.
Despite not coming into the league in the best of form, Sandeep has proved to be a crucial player for his team. All eyes will be on him in the final of the tournament. The all-rounder has scored 37 tackle points this season, with an average of 1.61 successful tackles per match. Defensively, his key responsibility will be to cover the right side of Delhi’s defence, while keeping the likes of Guman at bay.
2. Sachin Tanwar Vs Joginder Narwal
Sachin Tanwar has had a wonderful season for Patna Pirates. The raider has scored 163 raid points, with an average of 7.41 raid points per match. With his blistering pace and mastery over the Running Hand Touch, Tanwar has been a nightmare for opposing defences throughout Pro Kabaddi League Season 8. He usually raids on the right side. This will see him go up against Dabang Delhi’s Joginder Narwal.
Joginder Narwal has had a decent season with Dabang Delhi. The defender has 31 tackle points this season with an average of 1.72 successful tackles to his name. Joginder Narwal is a veteran of the game, but his best days are behind him. The defender has to be at his absolute best to keep Sachin Tanwar at bay.
The defender has a devastating ankle hold, but lacks the speed and agility to keep up with the likes of Tanwar. The 40-year-old will have to rely on his experience.
1. Naveen Kumar Vs Mohammadreza Chiyaneh
Naveen Kumar has been the star performer for Dabang Delhi this season. The raider has been in outstanding form in Season 8 and has picked up 194 raid points, with an average of 12.12 raid points per match. The "Naveen Express" usually stays in the centre while defending, but his main prowess are his raids.
His strengths consist of pace and agility and his brilliant control on the Running Hand Touch move. The Dabang Delhi raider usually raids from the right side and this will see him come up against Patna Pirates all-rounder Mohammadreza Chiyaneh.
Mohammadreza Chiyaneh is another player who has been at the top of his game. The Iranian has been solid on the left side of Patna Pirates’ defence this season, getting 87 tackle points, with an average of 3.78 successful tackles per match. Mohammadreza is a master of the Ankle Hold and himself is quite quick and agile. Chiyaneh coming up against Naveen Kumar in the final will be a spectacle to watch.
