These players shone in the last match of the eighth edition of the league.

Dabang Delhi won the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 after defeating three-time champions Patna Pirates in the final. The match turned out to be a closely-fought contest and Dabang Delhi came out on top, winning the match by 37-36. Star raider Naveen Kumar (13 points) and all-rounder Vijay (14 points) secured Super 10s, as they overcame a tough challenge from Patna Pirates.

Patna had an uncharacteristically poor night in defence, with the likes of Mohammadreza Shadloui and Sunil committing far too many errors. Some big blunders from the coaching team also cost the Pirates their fourth league title. This is Dabang Delhi’s first-ever Pro Kabaddi League crown.

In the build-up to the final, we had talked about three key battles that could be seen on the mat during the match. As we are done with the showpiece, let us find out who came out on top in those three key battles:

3. Guman Singh Vs Sandeep Narwal

Despite ending up on the losing side, Guman Singh put up a worthy display for his team. He picked up nine points in total for Patna Pirates. The raider used his speed to gain crucial points for his team. On the other hand, Sandeep Narwal wasn’t as effective in the game as he would have wanted to be. The all-rounder picked up only two points throughout the match and notched up only one tackle point.

Dabang Delhi may have won the match, but it was the Patna Pirates' raider who came out on top in this particular contest.

2. Sachin Tanwar Vs Joginder Narwal

Sachin Tanwar is another Patna Pirates raider who put up a solid performance despite the result. The raider looked lively throughout the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 final and picked up 10 points for his team. It was the highest by anyone from the Patna Pirates. Joginder Narwal, on the other hand, didn’t have much impact on the game.

The veteran had no contribution in terms of points for Dabang Delhi. All five of his attempted tackles were unsuccessful. It is obvious that in the battle between Sachin Tanwar and Joginder Narwal, it was the Patna Pirates' raider who came out on top.

1. Naveen Kumar Vs Mohammadreza Chiyaneh

Dabang Delhi’s star man throughout the season also delivered in the most important game. Naveen Kumar put up a wonderful display, as the Patna Pirates’ defence looked out of ideas on how to stop him. The Dabang Delhi raider put up another Super 10 against his name, as he earned a total of 13 points for his team.

Mohammadreza Chiyaneh's performance in the final, however, was not up to the standards that he had set for himself. The Iranian scored five points for his team, out of which only two were tackle points. Crucially, in the dying moments of the match, the all-rounder stepped out of the mat when a raid was still in play, which resulted in him being out and Dabang Delhi getting a free point. That could arguably be the moment that cost the Patna Pirates the match, as there was little time left for them to make a comeback.

In a contest between two talented individuals, it was the Dabang Delhi raider who got the better of the Patna Pirates defender. Naveen Kumar was brilliant on the night, as he has been throughout the season and now he has a Pro Kabaddi League title to show for it.
