The Warriors will be playing against Telugu Titans on Saturday.
Bengal Warriors' captain Maninder Singh has been displaying exceptional raiding prowess throughout the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8. Riding on Maninder's performances, the Warriors have gone through many ups and downs in the league.
They are currently sitting in fourth place in the points table, with 41 points. The defending champions will look to book their place in the playoffs. However, the star raider is not sure about whether they will be able to qualify for the top four.
In a press conference, Maninder Singh said, “I really wish my team reaches the playoffs and wins the trophy. This is Pro Kabaddi League and every match is important. I can't say that we will reach the playoffs. We have to perform well in every match.”
The 32-year-old expressed that he is not concerned over the performances of other Bengal Warriors' players. Maninder Singh is confident that the other raiders of his team will pick up form in the league, as they have improved in the last few matches.
On being asked about the match pressure as a standalone raider in the team, the star remarked, “We have a few lead raiders in the team. Sukesh Hegde is there and Anand is also a very young and good raider. He also took some points in the last few matches.”
The captain further added, “So, there are a lot of raiders in Bengal Warriors apart from me. We all will show our potential when we get our chances.”
Maninder Singh was all praise for all-rounder Mohammad Nabibakhsh, who has been in great form in the last few matches of Pro Kabaddi League Season 8. The star raider talked about Nabibakhsh’s performances and said, “He is an exceptional player and is very important for our team. He played really well in the last match.”
Mohammad Nabibakhsh had started the season in good form, but later got injured and that affected his performance. The captain said, “Nabibakhsh was in really good form, but then he got an injury that affected his performance. However, he is back in form and playing really well in attack as well as defence.”
Maninder Singh was the hero of Bengal Warriors in their last victory against Jaipur Pink Panthers in the Pro Kabaddi League. The defending champions defeated Jaipur by 41-22 in an one-sided encounter. The captain scored 13 points in the match and was supported by his entire team in securing a win that will improve their playoffs chances.
Bengal Warriors will be going up against Telugu Titans on Saturday and Maninder Singh holds high hopes from this match.
