The side were heavily affected by COVID-19 which led to rescheduling of their matches.
Patna Pirates will finally return to action after a break of nine days. The three-time former champions will play against the Tamil Thalaivas on Friday in the Pro Kabaddi League. Patna last played against Dabang Delhi on 18th January, Tuesday, when they had lost the match 32-29.
The Patna Pirates, after Dabang Delhi, were supposed to play against the Bengaluru Bulls followed by Puneri Paltan. But, the sudden rescheduling of both matches left everyone wondering. However, it was later found out that their camp had a few players who had tested positive for COVID-19. These two matches were rescheduled to February.
After a few days, it was found out that a few more players in other teams had also turned out positive for the coronavirus. This led to the cancellation of the match between Patna Pirates against the Telugu Titans, which was to be held on 25th January, Tuesday. This match too was rescheduled to a later date.
Now, Patna Pirates will play against the Tamil Thalaivas on 28th January, Friday. It has also been revealed that the match could be pushed forward, should the players fail to recover in the desired time.
Patna were having a decent run so far
Patna Pirates were playing exceptionally well. They had won four of their last five encounters in this month. They are currently third in the points table, below the Bengaluru Bulls and Dabang Delhi. Before this unprecedented halt, they were having a decent season so far, with seven wins in 11 matches, including a draw.
They would also look to stay in the race for the playoffs and not get too affected in their performances. Their star players such as Mohammadreza Shadloui and Sunil would also look to return to the mat with the same intensity and rhythm as before.
