Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 8 will soon come to an end, but the competition will go out with a bang. Since the conclusion of the league stage, the fans became witnesses to two high-octane eliminators. The outcome of these matches saw UP Yoddha and Bengaluru Bulls make their way into the semi-finals, at the expense of Puneri Paltan and Gujarat Giants respectively.
Both matches saw brilliant individual performances, particularly from high-profile players. There were a lot of expectations riding on the shoulders of players like Pawan Kumar Sehrawat and Pardeep Narwal. Being the legendary figures in the PKL circuit, these players delivered for their teams and helped them enter the semi-final stage. Both the players were crucial to their team’s performance, excelling in pressure situations.
"Dubki King" finds forms at the perfect time
UP Yoddha came up against a Puneri Paltan team, which had the legendary figure of Anup Kumar as the head coach. There was no favourtie before the match, as the game could have gone in any direction. The Paltan took an early lead and it looked like they would go all the way. However, the complexion of the match changed when Pardeep Narwal scored five points from a single raid. The "Dubki King" was crucial in bringing the game level to 12-12, after seeing his team go behind by 8-1 in the early stages.
By the conclusion of the Pro Kabaddi League match, Narwal collected 18 points, the most in the contest. His raiding capabilities saw him collect 17 raid points and one bonus point. He will be central to U. Yoddha’s chances when his former team Patna Pirates will be the opponents in the semi-final. The team will bank on the star raider to deliver again when it matters the most.
Pardeep also received good support from Surender Gill who scored five points. In addition, Sumit completed a High-Five in defence as the game ended 42-31 in favour of the Yoddha. Aslam Inamdar completed his Super 10 for the Puneri Paltan, but his contribution could not guide the team against a UP team that were led by the incredible Pardeep Narwal.
"Hi-Flyer" Sehrawat powers Bulls into the semi-final
Bengaluru Bulls had a mixed performance in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 league stage and made it to the eliminators after a lot of struggle. They came up against a powerful Gujarat Giants, battling for a place in the semi-finals. The Bulls have a huge asset in their team in the name of Pawan Kumar Sehrawat. He is the leading scorer in the league this year and the only one to cross the 300-point mark.
He was absolutely vital in helping the Bulls defeat the Giants by a 49-29 scoreline. The captain of the Bengaluru Bulls scored another Super 10, as he recorded 13 points against Gujarat. It was imperative that Sehrawat delivered a good performance, as Bengaluru’s defence has not been upto the mark this season. They rely a lot on the "Hi-Flyer" and he keeps delivering on huge occasions.
Chandran Ranjit and Bharat provided him good support in the raiding department as well, scoring seven and six points respectively. Moreover, Sehrawat scored one tackle point, which is also impressive considering he is a raider. It is worth remembering that he became the first player in PKL history to score a Super 10 and a High-Five in a single match, achieving the feat against Haryana Steelers in the league stage. Bengaluru Bulls face Dabang Delhi in the Pro Kabaddi League semi-finals and it will be a clash between two absolutely outstanding raiders in Naveen Kumar and Pawan Kumar Sehrawat.
