Naveen Kumar recently broke the record in the ongoing season of the league.
Each and every season of the Pro Kabaddi League is filled with impeccable thrilling contests, where records are made and broken in almost every match. We have already witnessed one of the finest records made in the tournament. On Monday, Naveen Kumar became the fastest raider to reach 600 raid points in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League in just 53 matches. However, he left two players behind him who held the record earlier.
Let’s have a look at the top three fastest players who have made it to 600 points in the least number of matches.
3. Maninder Singh
Known as one of the finest raiders in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League, Maninder Singh started playing for Jaipur Pink Panthers in the inaugural edition of the tournament and currently captains Bengal Warriors. Maninder reached the milestone of 600 points in just 62 matches.
He has scored 843 raid points. The right-handed player is known for his ability to outshine the defence of the opponent team. His quick stepping and calculated movement often leaves the players bewildered. Naveen currently holds the record of being the fastest player to earn 500 raid points in just 56 matches. In the current season, he has scored 100 points in just eight matches.
2. Pardeep Narwal
Known as the "Dubki King" of PKL, Pardeep Narwal started off by playing for the Patna Pirates and also led them to three straight titles. He now plays for the UP Yoddha, after the franchise bought him in the auction for a record price. Pardeep Narwal was the first player to reach 600 points in just 63 matches.
He also won the award for the Most Valuable Player in the years 2016 and 2017. He also won the Best Raider award in 2017 and 2018. In Season 6, he held the record for most super raids in a single season.
1. Naveen Kumar
Dubbed the "Naveen Express," Naveen Kumar has been the most phenomenal player of Pro Kabaddi League Season 8. The youngster has stunned the world of Kabaddi with his exceptional talent. As mentioned above, he became the fastest player to reach 600 points in just 53 matches. In 2018 in his debut season, Naveen scored a total of 177 points in 22 matches, along with 8 Super 10s and also became the leading scorer for his team in that campaign.
He also became the youngest player to score a Super 10 in the history of the league. The 2018 season had already given the indication of what was to come in the next term. The year 2019 followed with the seventh season of PKL and another season of Naveen’s achievements, where he was retained by his team and scored 301 raid points in just 23 matches. He scored a whooping 22 Super 10s out of which 21 were scored consecutively, which made him the first player to do so in a single season.
In the current season, he is the leading point scorer for the team and also the entire tournament. After having achieved so much at such a young age, no team or defence would prefer to come up unprepared for such a strong player, which clearly illustrates the fact that Naveen has established himself as one of the most dominant leaders in the league.
