Three-time champion Patna Pirates will begin their PKL 11 campaign against Puneri Paltan.

The eleventh edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 11) is up and running. After three days of back-to-back Kabaddi action, the focus now shifts to Patna Pirates’ opening game against Puneri Paltan. The three-time champions will be eyeing their fourth title and will need to start their Pro Kabaddi League season on the front foot to get going.

The upcoming game will be the 23rd meeting between the two sides in Pro Kabaddi League. Patna Pirates have a huge advantage when it comes to their head-to-head record against Puneri Paltan. With a win percentage of close to 60%, the three-time champions have maintained a dominant record against the reigning champions.

Both teams came up against each other thrice last season, including a semi-final clash. Puneri Paltan secured the bragging rights by clinching a statement win over the Pirates in the first clash. The return leg witnessed both sides go toe-to-toe against each other and put up an entertaining 32-32 draw in Pro Kabaddi League.

And in their third meeting, Puneri Paltan knocked the Pirates out of the competition and secured their place in the final before lifting the elusive trophy. Puneri Paltan have enjoyed recent success over the Patna-based side, but the Pirates have a big lead in terms of wins.

Patna Pirates went on an unbeaten run of 11 games against Puneri Paltan before losing their first-ever game in 2017. The last time Puneri Paltan lost a game against the Pirates was back in December 2021 and are on an unbeaten run ever since with three wins and two draws.

Puneri Paltan vs Patna Pirates Head-to-Head Record

Total Matches Played – 22

Puneri Paltan wins – 5

Patna Pirates wins – 13

Draw – 4

Patna Pirates have maintained a strong record against Puneri Paltan since the start of the Pro Kabaddi League. They have nine more victories than their counterparts and with fire burning in their eyes for revenge for last season’s Pro Kabaddi League semi-final heartbreak, Patna Pirates could very well put up a great show against the most in-form side in the league.
