Tamil Thalaivas vs Puneri Paltan: All time Head-to-Head record in Pro Kabaddi League

Puneri Paltan will aim for the third consecutive win in Pro Kabaddi League 11 against Tamil Thalaivas.

The 11th match of season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 11) will see the defending champions Puneri Paltan take on Tamil Thalaivas. The midweek blues of the fans will be over as both teams will be ready to serve a feast with this contest after getting off to winning starts in PKL 11.

Tamil Thalaivas faced southern rivals Pawan Sehrawat-led Telugu Titans in the opening encounter of PKL 11. It was a dominating performance from the Thalaivas with both their raiders Sachin Tanwar and Narender Kandola notching up super 10s. The appointment of Dharmaraj Cheralathan as strategic coach seems to be reaping the rewards from the first game.

Pawan was consistently scoring bonus points and Chera Anna was quick to find the flaw and substituted the left cover it resulted in Pawan being tackled which set the tone for victory. On the other hand, the Paltan have continued from where they left last season as they dominated the Haryana Steelers and Patna Pirates to go to the top of the points table.

Puneri Paltan have stuck with six of the seven players that played in the finals of PKL 10. The only change has been Aman at the left corner, the replacement of Mohammadreza Shadloui. Many predicted it could be an Achilles heel but it turning out to be their stronghold as the former Bulls defender has been wonderful with 10 points from two games.

With two in-form sides, the game will be one to look out for. Not to forget the rivalry these two teams have developed on the mat in the last few seasons. The icing on the cake was in season nine when they produced three thrillers. Let’s dig more into the history shared between the teams.

It all started with the historic 100th game of Pro Kabaddi League season five with Thalaivas hosting Pune in Chennai. It was the visitors who had the last laugh with veterans Rajesh Mondal and Deepak Niwas Hooda taking them to victory.

The revenge was sweet for the Thalaivas as a 12-point game from legendary Ajay Thakur helped them beat the Paltan in their hometown in season six. The 2019 edition saw two tied games with Ajit Kumar and Pankaj Mohite top-scoring in both games for Thalaivas and Paltan respectively.

The second of the tied game had a scoreline of 36-36 with Tamil Nadu boy Ajith scoring 18 of them for the team. Ironically, he is with the Pune squad this season hopefully will see him in action. The post-covid season saw them share the honours with a win each. It was in season nine that all the drama started.

In the first fixture, Thalaivas were leading the game from the first raid and the Fazel Atrachali-led Pune was fighting it out. The sensation of the season, Narender produced a 6-point raid which wiped the team out. They never came back as they succumbed to a humiliating loss in their home terrain.

They wanted to give a statement and it was evident in the return fixture which was scheduled as the next game for both teams. It was again a close game with Pune winning it with Fazel being at his aggressive best. Both teams met in the semifinals in a bid to make it to their first-ever finals.

It was Pune who came out triumphing in another thriller. They continued their winning run with two wins from two games last season. Thalaivas would want to get one back which will boost their confidence sky-high for the season.
