U Mumba have a three-win lead over Tamil Thalaivas in the Pro Kabaddi League.
Season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 11) has entered the Noida leg which continues to provide high-octane Kabaddi action. On the evening of the Children’s Day in India, two teams will be battling against each other to get the bragging rights for the night.
U Mumba, the Pro Kabaddi League season two champions will take on Tamil Thalaivas in the second match of the night. The journey of these two teams in the season so far has been chalk and cheese. The Thalaivas got off to a great in PKL 11 start beating some of the season favorites, including breaking the winning streak of defending champions Puneri Paltan.
They were topping the charts at one point in time but three consecutive losses brought them down in the points table when they finished the Hyderabad leg. Their opponents for the night U Mumba started the season slowly with just one win from three matches.

But led by skipper Sunil Kumar and some magical performances from Ajith Chauhan, the men in orange are finding themselves in the top quarter of the Pro Kabaddi League 11 standings. These two will be battling it out on Thursday for the all-important five points. Both are coming from losses and would badly want a win to keep themselves in the hunt.
Chennai and Mumbai – two of the fiercest rivals in the Cricket extravaganza of Indian Premier League. The rivalry in the Pro Kabaddi League might not be as fierce as it is in IPL. But these two teams have never failed to entertain the fans. The first-ever contest between these two teams was a blockbuster one as two of the best raiders led their respective teams.
It was Anup Kumar for U Mumba and Ajay Thakur for Tamil Thalaivas. It was the then-Indian skipper Anup who got the first win but then Indian Vice-captain Ajay stepped up big time with a 16-point performance to make it 1-1 in season five. The next season saw Mumba win comfortably, thanks to a defensive masterclass that includes the current Thalaivas coach Dharmaraj Cheralathan.
U Mumba continued their domination in the Pro Kabaddi League over the men in yellow in the next two seasons with three wins in four matches. The other is a tie in season eight in which Manjeet top-scored for the Thalaivas and the Noida Indoor Stadium will witness the tall raider donning the Mumba jersey on Thursday.
It was the Pro Kabaddi League season nine when Tamil Thalaivas changed their fortunes as not only beat Mumba but also made it to the playoffs for the first time. It was the combo of Narender Kandola and Sahil Gulia that helped Thalaivas post the win against the Pro Kabaddi League season two champions.
The last season was no different with both teams winning one match each. While the head-to-head stats in Pro Kabaddi League might be favouring Mumba, Thalaivas would want to remember the moments from their last encounter in which they won by a margin of 16 points – the highest ever in Thalaivas-Mumba encounters.
