UPKL: Arjun Deshwal's Lucknow Lions continue their unbeaten run, day 6 report
Lucknow Lions continued their strong start to the season.
The first season of the UP Kabaddi League (UPKL) has started on a positive note. On 16 July 2024, four more matches were played at the Noida Indoor Stadium in Noida, Uttar Pradesh which gave the fans sensational kabaddi action to witness.
Lucknow Lions maintained their perfect start to the season with a convincing win over Ganga King of Mirzapur. Additionally, outfits such as Yamuna Yodhas, Kashi Kings and Noida Ninjas also recorded wins in the four matches played on Tuesday respectively.
Here is how the action unfolded from the list of matches at the inaugural UPKL on 16 July 2024:
UPKL Match 21: Brij Stars 32 – 36 Noida Ninjas
Noida Ninjas recorded their third win of the season, outplaying Brij Stars in a closely fought contrast. In the end, the side won by a margin of four points from a fixture that could have gone either way. Pankaj scored 11 points for the Brij Stars while Kunal Bhati contributed 11 raid points for the Ninjas.
A super raid and better tackle points (10) tally by the Ninjas was enough to earn them a deserved win over Brij Stars who languish in the second bottom place in the standings after the loss.
UPKL Match 22: Awadh Ramdoots 24 – 29 Kashi Kings
Another closely-fought contest at the 2024 UP Kabaddi League saw Kashi Kings defeat Awadh Ramdoots by a margin of five points at the Noida Indoor Stadium in Noida, U.P. Harendra Kumar was the best performer for the victorious side with eight points while Amit Nagar scored six points in a losing cause for the Ramdoots.
The game featured sensational defensive displays from both teams. Where Awadh Ramdoots collected 15 tackle points, Kashi Kings scored 16 tackle points and recorded an impressive win which takes their point tally to 11 points.
UPKL Match 23: Sangam Challengers 27 – 38 Yamuna Yodhas
In a one-sided fixture, Yamuna Yodhas decimated the Sangam Challengers by a 38-27 scoreline. Nikhil Chaudhary (seven) scored the highest points for the Sangam Challengers while Vinay scored 14 points which included a super raid as well.
While the raiding performances of both teams were at par, the superior defence was the deciding factor in the end. The win allowed Yamuna Yodhas to tie Sangam Challengers in the standings with 21 points.
UPKL Match 24: Lucknow Lions 45 – 24 Ganga Kings of Mirzapur
Lucknow Lions were in a league of their own as they recorded a dominating win over Ganga Kings of Mirzapur by a 45-24 scoreline.
