National Games 2024 likely to be held in November in Uttarakhand

With the Paris Olympics scheduled this year, the dates for the 38th National Games is yet to be announced.
The 38th edition of the National Games will take place in Uttarakhand this year. The previous edition of the Games took place in Goa during November 2023. At the end of the 37th edition of the event, Vice President, Jagdeep Dhankhar and IOC President PT Usha had presented a flag of the Indian Olympic Association (IOC) to Uttarakhand giving it the hosting rights for the 38th edition of the Games.
The dates have not been confirmed although it is scheduled to take place in November. With the Paris Olympics scheduled for this year, there might be a slight change to the dates of the event.
Preparations had begun in January in the state and the project is set to be completed soon. Five months earlier, the first woman chief secretary of Uttarakhand, Radha Raturi, had announced that the games will have world class infrastructure and facilities. She had spoken about the use of recyclable medals for the athletes and the use of solar lights in the arenas.

The Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency will play a vital role in making the Games eco-friendly. The 38th edition of the Games will focus on the Anti-Drugs Campaign, Green National Games and developing sports culture in the state.
Roads will also be thoroughly inspected, especially the ones leading to the Baur Reservoir. The indoor stadium at Rudrapur is also getting ready as renovations are taking place. The developments are linked to a legacy plan as it hopes to improve the current conditions of the sporting scenario in the state.
In 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 37th National Games at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa on 26th September. There were a record breaking 43 disciplines in the Games. The 37th edition of the National Games came to an end on 9th November. Maharashtra took the first place in the medal tally while Services finished second and Haryana finished third.
This year, Maharashtra will look to defend the title. The state organisers will aim to end the Games on a positive note similar to what Goa achieved last year.
