National Games 2022: Day 2 Schedule of Table Tennis

The group stage is complete and the knockout games are underway.

The National Games 2022 started with Table Tennis in the men's and women's sections respectively. On 20th September the group stage was completed following which the knockouts will be played the following day.

Men's

Group A - Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana, and Telangana.

Group B - Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Karnataka.

Women's

Group A - Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, and Haryana.

Group B - West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh

The teams that made it to the top 8 in National Championships are competing in the National Games 2022.

In the men's section, Gujarat was the team to watch out for ( Harmeet Desai, Manav Thakkar, Utpalbhai Shah) winning both their encounters against Haryana and Delhi comprehensively. The chances of Gujarat winning the gold medal in the men's event now looks very bright.

Tamil Nadu did not make it to the men's event as they did not finish in the top 8 of the Senior National Championships held in Guwahati. So the likes of Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Sharath Kamal will only take part in men's singles. Tamil Nadu in the women's section lost their opening encounter to the experienced team from West Bengal.

West Bengal had the likes of Olympian Suthirtha Mukherjee, Ayhika Mukherjee, and Mouma Das. They beat Karnataka in their next match which had Yashaswini Ghorpade the Asian youth Medallist in their ranks.

Maharashtra women's team consisted of Diya Chitale and Reeth Tenison who were part of CWG 2022. They went on to beat Gujarat, Telangana, and Haryana and will look set to play the Semi-Finals. Their men's team also progressed well beating Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal and are due to play Karnataka later.

Payas Jain the Asian youth medallist 2022 put up a good fight against experienced Manav Thakkar losing in 5 sets. In the 4th game, Payas was trailing by 5 points but came back to win the set to take the match to the decider.

After the team event gets over the individual events along with doubles will take place till the 24th of September.

Teams qualified for the Semi-Finals.

Men's - Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, and West Bengal.

Women's - Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal.

Day 2 Table Tennis schedule

10:00 AM - Women's team Semi-Finals.

12:00 PM - Men's team Semi-Finals.

4:00 PM - Women's Team Final.

6:00 PM - Men's Team Final.
