The teams is the solitary one to qualify from the North Zone alongside TFA and AIFF Elite Academy. . .

The All India Football Federation launched the U18 I-League to scout for the most talented players across the country. Since last season both national clubs & academies have been permitted to send their youth teams for the competition divided into 8 zones.

Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools (BBFS) participating in the League for the first time defeated Sudeva FC, Delhi United FC & Hindutan FC to qualify for the national finals of the League. Thus, it became the only football academy from North India and 3rd overall to have qualified for the nationals along with Tata Football Academy & AIFF Elite Academy.

The successful win for BBFS has opened the doors for football academies to compete against established clubs by offering a structured training curriculum. The team was majorly represented by players from North India who went through several rounds of selection trials.

BBFS runs India’s largest grassroots football training program and is the only academy to have its own coaches’ education program. BBFS coaches Vikas Rawat and Anup Singh were proud to affirm their beliefs in the team and said “the players have grown psychologically during the process as they always carried the skills with them to perform.

To make them perform on the field is a coach's job. We would not be surprised to see these players representing the nation in the coming future, the academy already having nurtured 4 players for the national team in the past”.

The team started out for the first time in the biggest and most competitive age group (U18) tournaments of our country. They were unsure about the path forward and suffered a loss in the first match itself. It regrouped and analysed its performance to understand the misgivings.

The coaching staff altered the tactics and motivated the team to realise its potential while taking one game at a time. This resulted in a tremendous turnaround as the team started dominating matches winning 4 in a row and became the champions of the Delhi zone in U18 I-League with a game to spare.

The team will now meet the champions & runners up of other zones in the national finals which will feature youth teams of Mohun Bagan AC, Kingfisher East Bengal FC, Bengaluru FC, FC Pune City, Royal Wahingdoh FC - Shillong, Shillong Lajong Football Club (SLFC), DSK Shivajians among others.

A proud moment indeed for the entire training program which continues to support prodigies and groom coaches for the nation. Huge credit to co-founder Mr. Bhaichung Bhutia for the continued support in the process.
